Hello, I am wondering what extra advantage the owner of a file or folder has over another administrator with full access permissions i.e. why would I ever want to become the owner of a file/folder ?

thanks for any help.

Administrators can always take ownership.

The only time you would need to take ownership is if you want to modify a file the owner has set the permissions to deny (read / write / modify).

This applies to some system files to protect against silly mistakes.
