The endless use of Covid as an excuse for pisspoor customer service.

I'm so over the whole "Sorry we are being affected by Covid" trope.

We've had two years to get used to this stuff...we used to get affected by Flu. seasonal sickness and other maladies. We didn't get constant excuses for poor service then. Just an apology.

I agree Covid is being used as an excuse but not to the extent that we all might think.

With Covid there is a 7 day isolation requirement meaning staff members will be off work for at least a week, there is no such requirement for the flu, people can turn up for work as soon as they are well enough, usually within a couple of days as anything longer generally requires a doctors certificate. Covid has a much bigger impact on staffing than the flu does.

Someone keying your wife's car when she is at work. Deeply and along a lot of one side of the car. What a senseless and stupid thing to do.

On my opinion it is much much worse than just being stupid and senseless.

It is a deliberate act of wanton vandalism.

The perpetrators deserve no pity whatsoever. It's a premeditated act and usually one of spite. "You have something nice and I don't, therefore I'm going to inflict some damage on your possession as a means of retribution".

The only effective sentence IMO is to defile something the perpetrator holds special. Then they experience what their victims experience and perhaps, just perhaps, they'll modify their ways.

Really if places cant handle doing business in what is now normal, they should give up and make room for places that can handle it, or change their processes to suit. Im over the "omg save the small businesses" crowd. Others will pop up to replace them.

Poorly-written specifications. I am so tempted to implement exactly what the spec asks for... but then I'll be the one that has to change it all later.

Argh! The sample file they've provided doesn't conform to their own spec!

Tails left on prawns in my food at restaurants and cafes!

I feel like asking the chef for a 20% discount because they didn't finish the dish.

I should hope so, that's so you have something to hold them by when you eat them.

I use a fork. I’d rather not use my fingers in a restaurant.

That just about every retail shopping web site splits their offerings into multiple pages.
Some pages have only 6 items, meaning I have to click through multiple pages to eyeball an item I am looking for.

Why is there not an option to display all items on a single scrollable page ?

My MK 1 eyeball- brain AI can easily discern an approximate match at about 8 items a second, and I can slow the scrolling if I get a close match.

Speed up again for more AI goodness.

But no, I have to keep on clicking the next page, wait for the web page to load, quick scan thru, next page, ad nauseam

Why? Because most site search terms dont.

The usual reason for doing this is to maximise space for advertising around the bait portion that you're interested in. This is why, for example, online articles for advertising-revenue-driven sites are broken up into 20 pages instead of being displayed on a single page.

TradeMe choose to do this and it does my head in. On the App, I can death-scroll through 1000's of listings but as soon as I move to desktop - next page, next page, next page. Grr.

Pagination is used to increase the number of page loads so you get more ad impressions. Which shouldnt be a thing on a website where you are trying to sell your own things.

What annoys me more is that there is already scrolling which is one way of pagination of things and then you scroll to the bottom and there is next page button. Don't provide more than one screenful if you're going to have your own pagination with page numbers. Scroll scroll scroll, next page. And then on kmart it doesnt even go back to the top of the page, it just replaces the items on the page leaving me at the bottom of the page.

The worst is when they don't even give you a multiple of how many columns they're showing so that at the bottom there is a row with fewer items on it.

Sounds awful. Maybe KMart is trying to give online shoppers a taste of the in-store experience?

"Kia ora [not my name], you are a COVID-19 Household Close Contact. You must self-isolate [blah blah blah, link to legitimate site]. If you have received this by mistake, please continue to follow current COVID-19 guidance."

That last sentence implies that they frequently send these to the wrong people...
