I'm with you on the Neighbourly thing.

I think it was supposed to emulate the Facebook local community pages without the Blue Giant being involved, but it's ended up nothing more than spam emails and advertising...mostly for Real Estate Agents and local businesses that want to sell me things I don't need/want/use.

The idea that I’d actually want to hear from neighbours is where it goes wrong for me!

Since I was about 15 I’ve always said that my ideal neighbours would take at least half an hour to reach by 4WD! 😎

I saw that and turned it off ages ago. Not easy to cancel either but I blocked them and haven't had anything from them since.

Neighbourly started off with such promise, seeming to fill a genuine need.

At first it was posts like "anybody interested in board games?" "I have a tree with tons of feijoas, come and help yourself" or "anyone got a ladder I can borrow for a morning." However, once businesses got involved, it lost all appeal.

100% this!

It also used to cover things like "Does anyone know where the best local XYZ is?" or "Look out, my car got broken into last night".

I find it hard to see if there are any of those types of posts on our local Neighbourly spam.

Having a parcel "With the Courier" (CourierPost rather than Postie) and the Courier has already been past!

Trying to book tickets for a show - I want two tickets.

The only decent seats left are in groups of 3 or singles.

I choose two seats.

Message: "You have left a single seat, please make another selection".

I CAN'T MAKE ANOTHER SELECTION!! Those are the only seats available, other than in the nosebleeds where I don't want to go.

So, it's likely those seats will remain unsold.

Idiots - Ticketmaster, I am looking specifically in your direction

Our local community Facebook page is ruled with an iron fist by it moderators. Anything that resembles marketing, spam or misinformation is quickly stamped out and the guilty party banned without question.

What I find worrying about it is the number of pet cats that go missing! Two thirds of the posts are people searching for Misty, Cookie, Mittens or some other typical cats name.

If I ever had another cat, I'd call it Gordon or Michael. It would seem so...out of place.

Cheap, shitty quality BBQ covers, that range in price from $20 to $2xx

Does no one make heavy duty, built-to-last covers anymore??

Well there’s good demand for them - Cat Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Cat, Lemon Sauce Cat, Cat & Black Bean Sauce, Cat Burrito, KFCat, Cat Lovers Pizza, Cat with Ginger and Spring Onion, Cat Fu Yoong - the list goes on.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

And as its usability has dropped, the demographic left still active on it seems to have tended towards the... eccentric end of the spectrum. I don't know which of those two factors is the tail and which is the dog, but it's not helped the site.

We had one called Sherpa. She liked climbing things.

I’ve suggested Mandu, Apault and Atonic for the next ones.
