I remember when we didn't have a TV - and neither did anybody else.

I can't remember that far back. But I can remember black and white TV with only one channel available. I can remember when South Pacific Television (later to be TV2) came along circa 1976.

When you remember the first landing on the moon life on TV (and it was NOT a Tie-Fighter cool).

It wasn't live on TV in NZ.

NZ didn't have the equipment for live TV satellite reception (until that large dish was installed in Warkworth area - is it still there?).
So it was recorded on tape in Australia, then the tape flown across the Tasman in an RNZAF Canberra jet - to be screened some hours later.

You can remember when Councils did the basics (Water / Sewage / Rubbish / Streets etc) right!

Not all the Empire Building / Rates rises for irrelevant stuff, and NOT get the basics right anymore!

You wife is momentarily alarmed to find those square foil packets in your jeans pocket, but they turn out to be disposable lens wipes for your spectacles.

TBH I'm stoked that she thinks I am still capable of having game.

Still would. Because then I would have to get down there to pick them up - which would mean getting up again...!

As a paediatric nurse you know you are getting on when you start to look after the sick children whose parents you looked after when they were kids and once I nursed the grand child of the child whose parent I cared for. (An't teenage parents fun) Plus the junior doctors who you helped train are now retiring consultants.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

When people say how many old people there are now, and you reply "What old people?" Everyone seems to be much younger than in the past.
