I rarely answer the phone if is not a known number in my contacts list. If it's real they will leave a message and I'll call back. If its not they won't and I haven't wasted my time telling them go away.

I don't have voicemail. Everyone has a device that can send me a SMS if they only have my phone number and that means I get to read it when I next look at the phone. Most people get hold of me on things with screening like facebook messenger or skype, which do not bother me if its a random person.

I have had a missed call on my phone today from 099255508 which google results say are vodafones spam center so no loss not answering them.

Geektastic: Got this marketing email from a very large company this morning:

“MISSING STRING for email_template and None”

For those who were wondering, this text be rendered into German as follows:

Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer?

Luckily they forgot to include the punchline.

Four “GOOGLE Netmarble Corp” transactions” of $169.99 on my credit card. I actually rang the boys school to check on my son thinking he might have somehow got my credit card on his chromebook and purchased some games but nope

Can only assume it was picked up through some hacked website or maybe a random cc generator or similar.

Despite being “pending” the bank was unable to block them rather they have to wait for the charges to complete before they can bounce them back. Being treated as fraudulent charges and am now getting a new CC.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Yeah, I've had that too. Anyone who works at a bank able to explain this? I had several pending fraudulent charges on my card that I immediately notified the bank about and they told me they'd have to wait until they'd actually gone through and then reverse each one, rather than blocking it before it happened. To their credit they sorted it out and refunded every cent include exchange fees and whatnot, but it still seems like an inefficient way to do things.

Why even keep this sort of page around?!

Edit: Actually, bonus points for how fundamentally broken this is. If someone cancels their account, it doesn't mean that they never existed. Imagine if you destroyed every author's books when they died...

Or destroyed their books because you disagree with their point of view.

Or pulled down their statue by applying the “cause of the day” to someone who lived centuries ago.

Or tried to get someone fired because you disagree with them.

After posting that, I was going to edit it to "when they decided to stop publishing" as it would be a better analogy. You replied before I could, although I suspect it wouldn't have changed your response much.

Given the US plug on it I'd say "probably not". Ouch!
