Selling a bike on Trademe.

Starting bid - $1000

Buy Now - $1650

Open to offers.

One offer of $400.00 (rejected my counter-offer of $1649 immediately)

Another offer of $800.00 (did not respond to my counter-offer)

Why would you offer less than the opening bid value? Especially knowing that the Buy Now is considerably more?

I really hate Trade Me, but Marketplace is even worse, so I persist with it.

Because these people want to get something for 50% of the starting bid and immediately flip it for a profit. Very annoying.

I think there are some people who make a living by making low-ball offers on Trademe and then selling for a realistic price.  Whenever I list something, I always get someone who asks for a low buy now price, which I always reject.  I don't think any such people have ever gone on to make a bid on the item.  I guess some people who want a quick sale will accept the low offer.

Westpac (and probably the rest of them) - To decrease your credit card limit you have to talk to a real person which when called suggested my wait time in the que was 90 something minutes.???? Once i finally got to talk to someone he was nice enough and the whole process took 1-2mins.

If you want to increase your credit card limit you fill out the convenient online form, take minutes and you don't have to talk to anyone.  Make it easy to get credit, make it hard to get our of debt.  👎

Not any more, friend wanted to increase their limit before travelling as they had a really low one, and it was a nightmare of stuff because of the new lending laws.

Lowering has always been easy, just fill in the request form online and has happened.

fair point, i've spent the last 10 years trying to reduce my credit limits, i've not actually applied for credit in a while. they used to give it away even when you didn't want it they would bump up your limit without asking.

NZPost New Tracking site gives you even less information that before! It was lousy then!

Don't even show if the parcel is in transit between depots now!

"Parcel: Exists"

Sound about right? I've seen a few parcel tracking sites which are about that helpful.

Got a service announcement email from our postal service right now (unfortunately not yet? valid for NZ):

(extract)

„This makes it possible to plan your day:

E-mail and/or push message with 90-minute delivery window.*.
An additional notification approx. 15 minutes before delivery.
Live tracking of the delivery on a map with countdown and delivery time window.
TIP: If you are not at home after all, simply book a drop-off location or a neighbour until shortly before delivery!
And now new: You have found a small, green vehicle in live tracking? Then your shipment will be delivered CO2-free, e.g. by a Streetscooter or an E-Trike.“

Why would you want to reduce your limit?  I'm genuinely curious - I don't know what my credit limits are and never exceed them but I pay mine off every month

In my case for my standard card, I dont want to have a limit which is more than I can pay off within a month so that I dont get into the situation where there is too much on the card in error.

A comment on this, the standard procedure for credit card fraud is to first increase your credit limit to the max and only then loot the account. I have a note attached to my account stipulating that any increase in my credit limit can only be done if I turn up at a physical bank branch and show photo ID. Anyone can do this, you just need to call the bank and request it.

A higher limit on your credit card reduces the amount you can borrow for your mortgage.
