SepticSceptic: Either way, I gave some stop somewhere, open the back door, and ungainly scrabble around under the seat, backside hanging out in midair in an undignified manner..

Video link?

That would be NSFW ....

Geektastic: Ah. I have a small Leatherman Squirt that lives in my washkit.
For me it's a Gerber Dime, because it has a small TSA-approved-length knife, scissors, and tweezers (alongside the usual screwdrivers, files, and cyclist remover). Also some teaspoons, miniature roll of duct tape, housewife (the other sort), assorted USB adapters including a USB firewall for charging, soap powder, and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment,

Wait a sec, that's an impressive multitool.

If it included a breadboard and a floppy disk holder, I'd be keen.

I mainly got it for the cyclist remover. Nothing worse than having to explain to Czech police why there's a cyclist wedged in the grille of your rental car.

For sure, it can be tricky driving on the wrong side of the road. On the bright side, the cyclist will keep the Police attention away from the dead backpackers in the boot.

Funny, you talk about the wrong side of the road like a helicopter pilot talks about the wrong side of the pilot's seat in an aeroplane ;-)

The sheer number of selfish motorists out there!

For example in our narrow Street, one car (Only one for over 100 metres) has been parked since the weekend.

No cars were parked on the other side of the Street for over 100 metres.

Yet the selfish idiot parks his ute directly opposite the existing car!

They will both be there until the morning at least!

Not just once, but a regular occurrence!

In New Zealand doing everything electronically is not only child's play, but is almost required.

US government websites are an exercise in frustration.

Everything seems to quickly devolve into sending paper forms if you do not have a US current driver's license, and current US address.

The IRS is the US government tax collector.

The IRS has out-sourced their proof-of-identity to "Real-me.id"

If they simply put on their opening web page "If you're outside the US, forget it. No matter how you go, we're never going to let you complete the process" would have been infinitely more helpful.

There is a "video chat" feature, but before you get there:

1) you need to upload a passport feature

2) then you need to use some software and a video camera to scan your face interactively (of course this should work with your phone, but they only allow US phone numbers, because of course they do)

3) then they tell you they need a US address; you can't change the country from US, must enter a US state

4) then they say they only call US numbers. So I got a Skype number in the US.

5) then I got prompted that I need a second document, with my social security number on it.

6) naturally it's not the IRS tax form, because that would make sense. It has to be something else with a Social Security number.

so even after completing step one through 6, I get stuck on the last step.

The US has really got to get their head of their ass; I know it's unbelievable but people do live outside the US. Shocking I know :(

Its usually Russian for me. Worse is when someone sends you a link to the mobile site and they dont have a thing to view the normal site so you have a giant picture of the product the width of your screen and other giant buttons.

That it can take up to 60 Days for VISA CC Fraudulent charges to "possibly" be reversed!

2 x >$1600 charges in USA when you have never spent anything over $100 overseas, and then only via Paypal!

I pity people without the funds to cover it!

Not even a query or alert email from the Bank either!

AML didn't even blink obviously!

You don't have to cover things under dispute on your credit card, they just sit there till its resolved. You may not be able to buy things on it because you're over your limit, but you dont have to pay for it. Remember that money that is your limit isn't your money and if you are counting on it to pay things then perhaps a look at finances is in order.

But this is why I never have money in my account the debit card is connected to. That's _my_ money at risk to the banking systems inherently insecure systems.
