He won't be alone. Since they were discovered they have had doctors and navy divers staying with them the whole time, providing medical care, food and water etc....there's no way he would be left alone.

Elon Musk is apparently there and they are still talking about Submarines, but surely with 100% success and the time to rescue halved overnight from the prior rescue, they aren't going to take experimental technology in and try and save them with it?

It's probably not, but it feels a little like Musk is trying to get some positive publicity.

It's probably not, but it feels a little like Musk is trying to get some positive publicity.

I'd say he's grandstanding to either divert attention from the catastrophic situation Tesla finds itself in, or he's doing it to stroke his ego, or both.

It's a ludicrous non-option and the Thai authorities could do without the distraction.

Initially, before they had a formal plan and he was talking about a very low risk submarine option I was pretty happy with him. Now, I think it's unreasonable for him to be there, as you say, simply a distraction.

They did demo something going through a very small gap, and I imagine he is well aware of the challenge, and said he could do it anyway. Said he could get one put together in 8 hours.

Unless there is an unpublicised issue with one or more of those remaining in the cave, or the weather is about to do something that causes a drastic change, the submarine does seem like an unnecessary distraction. Why abandon a technique that seems to have worked perfectly well up to now?

Imo Musk genuinely wanted to contribute a potential solution and that has been accepted as potentially useful. All the same it will add unknowns and would not be used unless a last resort of some kind.

I don't doubt he genuinely wants to help. I just don't know if right now, he is helping.

Can someone explain who knows more about it than I, there was concern that Oxygen levels were dropping. I presume what they meant by that was the percentage of oxygen to Carbon Dioxide, as there isn't a way for the CO2 to exit the cave, except via the water? I am not sure how good water is at dispersing CO2, or how much O2 water brings in as it cycles? I assume that they could potentially rebalance the levels by bringing in a large number of O2 tanks and emptying it, but perhaps that would be like filling a swimming pool with a thimble?

Is it only about pumping in oxygen or getting rid of the C02? Pot plants maybe? :)

If they have oxygen in there, that does somewhat take away some of the desperate urgency. If the waters rise, even a lot, the people inside, aren't actually at risk of drowning I presume, so it's more about the ease of getting them out.

its good to have alternatives available. Sure they don't need Elon's Sub now, but if there is a huge downpour then they could consider using it.

According to google:

The average person consumes 550L of oxygen a day. Air is 20% oxygen. There are 13 guys there.

I don't know how many L of air there is in that cave.

Water giving out oxygen?

According to google:

For every 200mL of oxygen (ie 1L of air), you need about 250L of water to hold that amount of oxygen.
