Success!

My over value package has been successfully forwarded (via parcel post, apparently) from Youshop in Portland to Comgateway in Portland (17km away from Youshop warehouse).

It will be in my hands in roughly 3-4 more days via DHL or FedEx.

I can breathe again.

Where are people buying from at the moment to make use of Youshop? With the exchange rate being what it is I have curbed frivolous overseas spending tongue-out

richms: So dont use them if they make you mad. $50 a year for being able to have parcels sit for up to 90 days before you consolodate them, and the pictures on arrival and the ability to fill out your own customs declaration is well worth it IMO.

So if you do consolidation even if a value is specified on your separate items you can specify something else?

I just purchased a new pair of Levis for $65 NZD from Amazon, and $19.90 postage from YouShop. The same jeans are going for $140 here. Happy with my $55 savings :)

I have had issues with youshop putting the price of an item, without the discount that was the next line below it on the invoice in the box, it was still under the GST threshold but not much wiggle room.

You put the values and items into each parcel that comes in, they add them up and list them all when you do a consolidation. Also if you tick Li batteries on one of the parcel that seems to carry over to the consolidated parcel, but the limit of 2 per shipment doesnt affect it? had 4 come in one consolidated parcel fine even tho it said max of 2. damn battery paranoia. Had to use fedex for Li batteries, even if they are inside something else.

cloudlover: Will consoldation calculate and charge the greater value of actual or volume weight of each parcel? For instance, if I have two parcel with 3kg volume weight and 0.8kg actual weight, how much will it be?

I mentioned the answer a few posts before your question. Consolidation will combine the volumetric weight of all parcels and the actual weight of all parcels. So if you have 2 parcels each with a volumetric weight of 3kg, and with an actual weight of 0.8kg, the volumetric weight of your combined parcel will be 6kg and the actual weight will be 1.6kg. So you will be charged for 6 kg. Note that parcel has a volumetric weight of 3kg and actual weight of 0.8kg, they should have attempted to repackage. If they couldn't for some reason that's fine but if there's no indication they did so and you think they probably can, you should complain. You could also try complaining after you consolidate instead. (Although as I mentioned, I have no idea whether they attempt any repackaging if the difference is more than 2 kg after consolidation but not before.)

Interesting seems to have come from this site https://www.bargainbro.co.nz/bargain.php?id=5470 Wonder what they did to convince Youshop to give them that coupon. At least that tells me it was only in late May, so I couldn't have used it for my order.

BTW sorry about two posts. I tried to combine them but I'm getting something really weird when I try and copy and paste, perhaps because I'm using Microsoft Edge.

Thanks, just used
Was building up a few parcels at the YouShop office, went to consolidate and got "We are unable to consolidate all of these parcels because only parcels with dimensions less than 50 cm can be consolidated"

Doh!

Consolidated my first parcel today; in the "excitement" of saving $17.25 due to consolidation I forgot to try any extra discount codes.

All you need to do is enter the code below when you pay for your YouShop shipping: WOOHOO20! (not sure the ! is part of the code)

Best of all, the code will be valid for an entire month, until September 12 - so you can use it on as many YouShop purchases from the USA, UK and China as you want.

The code does include the exclamation point. I note that in the email they sent to their customers they put the code in an image rather than text, making it impossible to copy and paste, and no alt text which excludes people who can't easily see. Perhaps NZPost needs to brush up on accessibility.
