Parcel that arrived on the 9th only appeared in my account yesterday after chasing them several times.

Weird thing is that my account history says they sent a couple of payment reminders - which is not correct.
Which makes me think they actually screwed up and associated the parcel with somebody else (who would have received the notifications).

Was good that they finally got it resolved, but not impressed with:
(1) Length of time to resolve the issue
(2) The fact that I had to chase them several times (and spell everything out for them)
(3) No offer of any discount for shipping (despite a full admission that the problem was entirely theirs and that there was nothing I could have done to help it).

nzkiwiman:
dman: Rather sucky the multi parcel savings option now doesn't apply to their USA or Europe warehouses! :-( :-/

Is making seriously consider switching over to some other reshipper instead. (but too lazy to bother researching options right now.... so for this shipment I'll use YouShop. But, suggestions for next time where to go instead?)

^ That is because they now offer parcel consolidation in its place.
Which if used correctly, can be cheaper than the multiple parcel discount was (last month I combined four parcels and saved $32.75 - the cost of one of my parcels)

The huge downside for me is parcel consolidation will almost always mean the NZ$400 GST threshold is smashed, which ruins any small shipping saving I might get by instead placing a huge tax burden. I'd rather keep my items separate and under the GST threshold.

Try promoting them to remind them it would be courteous Customer Service to offer you something when it is all their fault.....

Had a parcel leave Portland 21/10 with the expected delivery on the 31/10
On the 2nd I called up the NZ Post helpdesk and of course they couldn't tell me anything. Less than an hour later the parcel arrived in New Zealand and cleared customs.

Either amazing coincidence or it was already in Auckland and was "lost"

Anyone else experience any delays in shipping recently?

It does seem like delivery timing is really seriously messed up, as I've currently got two parcels which are *IN NZ* right now (from the USA), yet in my YouShop account it gives an "expected delivery date" of 11th of November!!! Good grief, that makes no sense at all.

(I live in Auckland by the way, so my delivery address must only be a handful of minutes drive away from their processing center in Auckland)

It bugs me that they don't get inbound parcels processed the same day, or that there isn't a way to pre-register your item's tracking number and the delivery options you want (like there is with other services).
I'm leaning towards using someone else next time.

Also, can we split this into a new topic now, seeing YouShop has been around quite a while?

Well I just paid $24.95 for a Chromecast Audio device. Google must really pack them well to make the shipping so high.

Next time for items like that I am going to look for an alternative. I don't care if they are not in Oregon so tax free since that shipping is outrageous. A quick check with USPS shows that the postage would be $15.75. I think Shipito uses USPS so even if I paid Ca sales tax on the Chromecast or about $2, I would be ahead.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Well now im even more pissed off at youshop than normal!!

I ordered two things from two separate places in the USA. I paid for them at the same time but did NOT consolidated, so they remained as two separate parcels. Each one *well* under NZ$400.(including factoring in S&H)

Well, I have now got a letter requesting a hundred and fifty bucks in customs fees/taxes, as they're counting it as *ONE* and not separately.

Nothing to do with YouShop
Customs will intercept parcels that arrive at the same time and calculate the value over all the parcels - if it is then over the limit, then they will get you.

I learnt this the hard way a few years back

This is why I always wait for one to clear customs before sending the next one out when I use shipito, or will USPS one to my PO box and one DHL to the street address.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Wish I'd known that earlier. I'd many many times paid for multiple parcels from YouShop at once, yet never had an issue until today.

NZ Customs website says something similar http://www.whatsmyduty.org.nz/faq

"The value of an importation is based on all goods imported by a company or person at one time and is not limited to a single financial transaction. If a group of several items, purchased separately by the same person or company, arrive in New Zealand at the same time, the value of these items may be combined which could result in charges becoming payable.".

And they've said and been doing this since before YouShop existed. In fact, I seem to recall they used to be more ambigious, implying that even if they weren't processed at the same time, if you were regularly receiving items you may be pinged.

It's true they don't always catch all parcels, I've even heard of people saying they had 2 or more parcels individually close to the limit which arrived at exactly the same time which weren't caught. However the possibility is always there. The $60 tax-due threshold is after all supposed to be about cost effectiveness.

Slightly OT but I ordered some goods via eBay Australia to the total of AUD $280 + $20 shipping which is under the limit.  The seller declared the value of the goods at AUD $400 which was annoyingly well over the limit.  Got a letter in the mail from NZ Post/Customs a few days later asking for $120 in GST and fees.  I sent a copy of my eBay invoice showing the real value of the goods and they were let through free of charge.  The funny thing in cases like this is that they actually did all the work but didn't get a cent for it.
