The number of those who fought or were even present must be getting very small now.

This reminds me of my feelings a few years ago towards WW1 veterans. It seemed like there was only a handful left but plenty that served in WW2. Now I'm getting that same feeling again towards the WW2 veterans. How quickly time marches on.

It does. WW2 only finished 22 years before I was born. That’s the equivalent of it finishing in 1999 for a child born today!

All my schoolmasters fought in it, pretty much.

We were at Puhaka Wildlife Centre having lunch on the deck when a Kaka come visiting on our table and attempting to partake in our lunch. As we were lightly defending our lunch it made a rapid raid on the table next to us and got away with a sandwich in seconds. Very cleaver bird creating a distraction to hide his/her true target. I love those cool birds.

@MikeB4 rather cool place to visit. Your experience with the Kaka would have topped it off nicely!

This reminds me of Greg the Takahe (since passed away) from Tiritiri Matangi. The day we visited he was marauding around the lunch area looking for snacks. 5 minutes later he was sprinting off with a pouch of Port Royal he'd pinched from someone on another table. Takahes aren't the fastest sprinters so it was a pretty fair race.

The cool holiday animations that my manafacturer sent to my car that played on the screens to wish me happy holidays and another for good new year. Kinda cool and a nice touch.

To walk to the bridge and back and to have spent a day without pain relief.

I am shocked and appalled that this kind of thing is classified by IMBD TV as Comedy (can you get vertigo from sitting on a high horse ?) -

I’m auditioning hifi gear at home. Obviously playing a lot of tracks I’ve heard many times as part of that process.

Sat here at 1115 PM having just played the first two tracks of Kind of Blue by Miles Davis right through three times because the system presented it so well that it was the first time in almost 40 years of listening to quality equipment that the phrase “it’s like being there” has been almost literally true.

A true epiphany of listening. Never heard it so good. Just sat there looking like Homer in a donut shop.

From a week ago;

Waking up feeling absolutely atrocious after weeks of bad sleeps, barely able to stand or be coherent, then finding a way past it to become super productive, including solving or doing tasks that had been outstanding for more than 2+ years and ending the day with 19 things off my task list done.

Incredible feeling, and very motivating.

Whatever it is, I will take some.

I seem to have finally kicked whatever plague has annoyed me since pre-covid times this week, just in time to go back to work after probably my least productive 2 weeks over xmas and new years.

I have learned to not overdo it when productive because it will lead to exhaustion and then being crap again, so for now I am just sorting out my trays of "crap to sort" that accumulate when I clear the workbench off into a storage tray in order to start something else. And also sorting out all my lightbulbs I have bought to try out and rejected because of being crap.

Q: How many light bulbs does it take to screw a technician?

A: As many as you buy in China!

My big 2021 goal is to kick procrastination out of my life.

I have actually found that starting with something very small, and finishing it, will lead me to the next thing. Once I got on a roll that day, it just got easier and easier. The other thing I find helps is to get out of the house, even if it's to mow the lawn. That burst of sound, slight physical impact does kinda jolt me out of it.
