nzkiwiman: Had some consolidated parcels arrive over the last few months
First was a bag (like those sold by NZ Post) in which all my boxes were put in, then I had larger boxes in which my other boxes were placed in.
- these options work well

The box that arrived yesterday however was the same size as the previous larger boxes but was too small for the all the other boxes to fit into.
So they just used one piece of tape to hold the larger box to the top parcel and then stuck the consolidated parcel label on the top parcel.

I've already complained as at any point in transit, the tape could have broken causing the smaller parcels at the bottom of the parcel to become separated from the rest

I had a similar experience with a Fire Stick.

YouShop cut the Amazon bag open to see what it was, attached one of their labels and taped the end closed with a bit of tape.
The tape was along the edge, and by the time it got to me the end was completely open... so I am lucky I didn't end up with an empty courier bag.

arvis: Just paid $37.5 for Nexus 6 from Amazon. That's too much, no?

Well, I just paid $32.75 for two nexus 6 phones (that Amazon kindly consolidated into 1 duty liable shipment) so yes, too much.

Edit - Tip for the future, items marked as gifts are not consolidated by Amazon.

Was 5th, then they extended it to 7th according to Twitter. IMO seemed a bit quick for a code intended to be used for Black Friday (and I presume Cyber Monday). Definitely one of the items I ordered arrived too late for the code. Understand it's getting a bit late now for orders guaranteed to be here before Christmas (and also Cyber Monday is becoming cyber week for many retailer) and they're also very busy at this time of year. But would have thought it should at least last 2 weeks after Cyber Monday or Black Friday. Not everyone needs their stuff before Christmas. Could wait until after Christmas if you really don't care I guess, I think they've sometimes had a Boxing day or something code.

Just been having a chat to NZPost about the latest promo code which expired on the 5th.
It was too little time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I called and asked as my Black Friday purchases from Amazon weren't guaranteed to arrive before it expired. Woman and NZPost told me if the items were ordered before the 5th the promo code will still work which I thought at the time was a bit odd. Then today was told that was incorrect and I can't get discount. Also, been told I'm not the only one who's contacted them about this same problem. This is my third let down by NZPost in the last 6 months. I'm gonna use a different forwarding service from now on. Damn shame.

I don't really understand the 5th December cut off. I have sent 8 packages with Youshop, they have all arrived within 2-3 days, longest was 6 days. I understand volume increase over xmas, but ultimately one assumes that a normal service provider puts on extra resources over heavy traffic times, paid for by the increase in volume.

I can't understand why now they are say 20 days. I presume they are still flying stuff here instead of putting a kid in a canoe?

The code caught me out too - my Black Friday Nexus 6 was delivered to youshop on the 5th, but as they didn't send my notification until the 8th the code had expired. Only a couple of dollars though, so not worth chasing them up about it.

I am tempted to now get youshop to return the item to Amazon and buy locally. At least that way it would be here for xmas.

Interesting. I paid for an item in the London warehouse Thursday week, got an email saying it was shipping on Tuesday and it was delivered here today. Not a bad service seeing it's getting really close to the end of the year rush now...

I paid for a shipment in the USA warehouse on the 7th December, expected delivery is 18th Dec. 11 days isn't bad for this time of year, but much slower than the London package Mauricio got. Of course you can't see tracking other than "on the way".

This is also quite annoying. After 2 years in operations this is something I'd expect to be resolved.

I am pretty much looking for an alternative now. I wanted to support a NZ company but unfortunately just like NZ Post, they don't seem to be very progressive.

Do you mean tracking or delivery speed?

I've got one parcel on the way with shipitto using USPS air mail. It was US$18 insured with a photo taken of the contents, which is more expensive than youshop's base price for smaller parcels (unless they hit you with volumetric charges), and youshop is faster and has at least some tracking. The next cheapest option from shipitto was a lot more expensive than youshop.

Youshop is pretty good value, but not for urgent things and probably not for really critical things. For that I'd use shipitto and fedex/dhl. I got a DHL package from amazon on their medium price shipping in around 5 days recently, pretty impressive for US$15 for a tablet.

I find that shipito oregon via USPS is as fast as youshop anyway. Have had a friday NZ time leaving USA (thursday for them) and in my mailbox on tuesday a few times. Cheaper too on something small like a SSD or some SD cards etc in a bubble envelope.
