I called it weeks ago to my wife that I thought maybe Sansa would end up queen, I was sort of right I guess as queen of the north. Bran as king, he is the least objectionable of all the characters left I guess although the whole "Bran the broken"? Is that PC? Will it have Facebook protests from others who are less abled?

Tyrion was by far and away the best character in the series, followed only by Arya (sp?)

I think it's OK Bran ended up as King, however,  he had done nothing to earn it other than being pushed out a Window and being dragged all over the place by other people. He contributed nothing to strategy, advice (other than non commital mysterious utterings), and showed no leadership.

My favourite character was easily Tyrion, but I had a few I really liked. Cersis was an evil wench, but she really did the job justice and portrayed the character well.

I felt in the last two seasons Cercei's character had just become a smirking, mustache twisting villain (minus the mustache). Once all her children were dead I'm not sure what her motivation was meant to be, as previously she had done evil things believing it was all in the interest of protecting her children.

I'm not sure Cersei was better or worse than anyone else tbh.  Most of the main characters had their own poor choices to deal with that impacted the world negatively.  Cersei was just upfront about her decisions.

How exactly did Cersei become queen?

Can't see her having any claim, other than to have been the parent of the last king/wife of an even older past king.

I bring this stuff on myself, by always dreaming for a Neo ‘the one’ type character. Like 11 in stranger things etc.
In essence I wanted more from Bran but never got it.  Thought he'd control a dragon for example, or go back in time and change some stuff, or maybe was the lord of light or something to warrant all that training to be a tree/mutant eyed raven.  Last we saw of bran he couldn't hold it altogether and just mumbled garbage brain fried outbursts, openly admitted he'd ceased to be Bran anymore yet now he's going to be king.

I thought the last episode was pretty good.  Laughed when they all laughed at Sam and how stupid democracy sounded.  Laughed when they showed ruling government discussions being so babyish, just like our parliament sounds.  I think it wrapped up as best it was going to, in a final season that at times felt like a different program altogether from the prior seasons we'd been enthralled by.

I enjoyed the first meeting of the council after Bran was elected. The interchat between the characters was quite amusing.

Technically none of the Lannister's should have been ruling anyway since King Robert decreed that Ned Stark be Protector of the Realm until his heir came of age, which Ned wrote as "Rightful Heir".... knowing the truth about Cersei's children.  Cersei basically stole the throne for Joffrey at that point.  Given Robert had no legitimate children, Stannis has the only legitimate claim.

Er...that was the point.

he didn't want and didn't try to get it.

Everyone else either claimed it on the basis that their ancestor was some ars*** with a big weapon and therefore they are now entitled, or was the ars**** with a big weapon.

Break the wheel - well that meant to me, and I said this, become a democracy.  Not become the next ars***.

Ok president for life isn't quite it, but it's a step.

Think Frances history or Russias, once the people got sick of big asses with all the money making war all the time, what happened?

Pretty satisfied with the ending despite some of the flaws discussed. Some thoughts below...

-Cant believe Bran became king, that was a very bizzare decision.

-Arya turned into such a kick ass assassin. If it was a game she'd be the character I'd like to play most.

-The last two seasons should have been full 10 episodes to flesh out some of the story arcs a bit better.

-The hurried/unfinished feel to the story probably bodes well for Martin who can now do it properly and make a bundle of $$$ selling the real ending in his books.

-I feel like the last few seasons of GOT pretty much turned into the Peter Dinklage show.

-Some excellent acting throughout, mainly by the actors portraying the Lannisters. Especially Lena Headey..wow. Worst main actors were Kit Harrington & Emilia Clarke who only seemed to have 2 expressions between them to successfully emote.

Edit: And Podrick as king's guard? Ahahahahahahaha

I agree about Snow and Dany, pretty one dimensional.

Disagree. I think he wanted it. I think he played the sittuation specifically to end up King, even to where he was sitting at the Dragon nest place. My issue was he did nothing to show he could be a decent King, except perhaps keeping his mouth shut, which perhaps more leaders should follow the example of.

And with Stannis being dead, doesn't Gendry have the most legitimate claim? He was legitimised by Dany and the other lords present at Winterfell.

Could have been, but I am guessing they were looking less for the person who inherited to the person most likely to do a half decent job?

One of the great things about Game of Thrones was it allowed you to suspend belief, and involve yourself in the show.

This season contained way too many piss poor decisions which went against previous dialog and continuity mistakes that made it really difficult to suspend belief and allow yourself to become absorbed in the show.

A classic case and point - Dany missing the massive fleet of ships despite having a perfect viewing point.

And then 1 dragon being pierced multiple times by said ships (presumably to hasten Dany's descent into madness??) and then in the next scene they totally and completely missed Dany's dragon...

Was their master aimer taking a leak or something??

The writing could not be more transparent if they tried and that is honestly just dissapointing. They really aught to be ashamed of themselves.
