There are FAR more important things than "looks", they are more likely to be seen as a sex object , a conquest that once achieved can be abandoned for the next "pretty wee thing"

Give me educated, intelligent, kind, compassionate, and someone I can talk to for the rest of my life, all the skin deep stuff fades over time/

There are far more important thing to YOU than looks. That doesn't cover everyone, including the women themselves.

The suggestion that women ONLY wear high heels for other people or because of an unspoken rule, or because they feel compelled to, is patently untrue.

Sorry, you're wrong networkn. Sociology , the study of human social behaviour, has lots of evidence about the pressures women face to behave in certain ways, and that includes high heels and being 'beautiful' in general.

It doesn't work with 'rules' , it's more subtle than that but works to build up beauty as being very valuable to women.

Of course it works to build up other attributes as valuable to men as well.

That's not specific gender. Men also do odd things to appear attractive to females.

There is no need for psycho babble as to why folks wear what folks wear. Maybe just maybe it makes them feel good and there is no need for them to be analysed and no need for them to justify it.

Wow, never knew that

"MSG can be used to reduce sodium in these foods without a taste trade-off. MSG contains about 12 percent sodium, which is two-thirds less than that contained in table salt, and data shows a 25 to 40 percent reduction in sodium is possible in specific product categories when MSG is substituted for some salt"

I guess I was subject to the general uninformed opinion of MSG

There's an excellent episode of the This American Life podcast back in 2019 that explores the origins of the vilification of MSG, which was in a hoax letter to a scientific journal back in the late 1960s: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/668/the-long-fuse (Also mentioned in Zoe's 'all you need to know' summary on MSG.) It would be interesting to know what % of the population still have fears of/concerns about MSG...

I'll agree they were not the best but they were not the worst band at all.

Exactly. There seems to be push to invalidate a desire to be attractive even if it's uncomfortable.

This should get it's own thread, perhaps in offtopic.

Read the beauty myth by naomi wolf and we can get back to bitching about courier deliveries.

NZ Post.

For the first time ever they left a card in my post box saying they couldn’t deliver something because it needed a signature - despite such deliveries being something they have done a dozen times this year already.

Now I have to do a 40km round trip tomorrow to pick it up.

And I was actually in the house if they’d bothered to drive down and find out.

I am not surprised at all. ANZ is only interested in taking your money, not refunding it.

Agreed. One reason why our trip back to Europe later this year is on Emirates.
