Hilarious! Been a while since they've been trustworthy, accurate and reliable!

You could view it as two distinct and independent statements.

I cant believe that they go on to say how they pushed their own agenda. What are they? They admit to having an agenda so they can't possibly consider themselves unbiased. I've always though of them as the propaganda arm of the greens.

I thought it was a plea for us support their newsrooms by contributing trustworthy accurate and reliable news stories because they're more important now than ever!

Comedy is funny. A heap of people likely losing their jobs isn't funny.

I'd give them 95%-97% on those scores. Actually they are extremely good, frequently exceptional, and a free service. There is the occasional messy as anything article now and then and relatively inconsequential errors at other times in that 3% band accounted for.

I expect they simply reflect contemporary concerns about the environment. It's actually a big deal to many people regardless of political affiliation.

Urrrrgh more cringe worthy articles

"Covid 19 coronavirus: Essential worker left in tears after being pulled over for speeding

Sorry, but unless you're an emergency service with your siren and lights going to an emergency, you got caught speeding. No need to have someone write an article in the paper about it. Take it on the chin and stop speeding?

The article goes on to mention the officer was leaning into the vehicle without PPE but I kind of feel like that was just inserted to build a further case against the evil mean awful terrible police force.

Major idiocy on Herald website tonight:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12322890

-- graph of percentage of population infected in NZ and Oz starting at 50 confirmed cases -- apparently 50 cases is the same percentage of the population in both countries!  0.001%.  So the graphic is completely untrustworthy.

Covid-19 update today.

Stuff: " One other person, a woman in her 70s, has also died." then scroll down "The man who died was a resident at Rosewood Rest Home & Hospital in Christchurch and had underlying health conditions."

The NZ herald says "A woman in her 70s in Waitakere hospital died last night"

This is beyond stupid.

It's stupid but not as stupid PLUS dangerous as this one:

Headline: Anzac Day: How New Zealanders remembered the fallen from their Covid-19 bubble

Reporter than proceeds to tell us RSA Auckland President led a gathering of around 100 people to commemorate ANZAC Day in breach of all the relevant laws and gave significant air time to his claim that he breached no rules:

"At some time during today we were going to lay a wreath and do something, it's just part of our DNA."

He suspected the Government knew they would do something small.

"When I was driving here, I knew there would be people here. We all observed our social distancing, so we didn't break any rules," he said.

"It's just something we have to do, we can't not do something for the people who went before us."

Thanks, Stuff!

The Stuff article has been updated (as they do, with sometimes substantial changes to articles) and removed the reference to a man in CHC instead of a woman in AKL. But the taste is the same: no responsible editorial there.

If the truth be known they use comments on sites like this to draw attention to their errors using Google alerts rather than proof read . We're possibly doing a public service without realising it.

"Former NZ prime minister Sir John Key buys $6m luxury Sydney apartment and lists it the next day"

Cool

The hard hitting NZ Herald journalism. I really should cave and get a premium subscription. I wonder if they'll report on his bowel movements there

I'd thought about a premium subscription. I don't mind paying to get good coverage. However their coverage prior to introducing a paywall wasn't flash in my opinion. Why would I waste good money on content I used to see that wasn't that good that is now behind a paywall, or have they upped their game significantly since the paywall was instituted?
