Either we have moved (Upper Riccarton) or Hornby has moved according to the Christchurch City Council!

They have put up "Wayfarer" sign posts as part of their Cycleway network.

There is a sign at the intersection of Suva Street & Hansons Lane aiming at Church Corner stating "Hornby Shops 400m"!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a portal I'm not aware of?

We had some renovations underway at work a few years ago, and visitors had to enter by a different door. "Entrance 100m ->" said the sign someone had put up.

100 metres to the right would take you past the other door, over the little bridge, past another business, past an alley, and then leave you outside a restaurant.

Reading NZ Herald and found that they have a "multimedia journalist"

Looking at this page, you realise that a "multimedia journalist" trawls through Facebook, X, Instagram, Reddit, and TikTok looking for stories to be rewritten for the paper.

What is the point of a paper if that is how they source their news? No wonder they are dying.

I don't find that surprising given the very clickable content produced from it. Occasionally I find it actually useful. Mostly I've trained myself not to take the bait. It's obvious many people find it entertaining and it's a significant source of revenue to fund real news which is actually very expensive in comparison. Not to mention incredibly infuriating to many..

Apropos to nothing in particular: I see the armorer from the movie set of 'Rust' is going on trial for manslaughter for giving Alec Baldwin a weapon loaded with live ammunition resulting in the accidental shooting death of a producer. Predictably, she is blaming Baldwin for the accident but what I don't understand is why a live round would be allowed on the set at all or anywhere near it. What possible purpose could a live round serve on a movie set?

It's the US, they were using the guns during filming breaks to shoot at things.

Edited to add: Seriously, they were. This is the US, there's guns lying around, we're on our lunch break, let's shoot something, that's how the live ammunition got mixed in.

My rough-haired dachshund Skipper sneaked off during an invitation visit to honourable city officials and undertook an exploratory tour of the conservatory on his own.

In the process, he peed on their old, probably rather expensive bonsai tree, which was temporarily standing on the floor for watering. I was terribly embarrassed and this rogue acted as if it was „his royal“ right to pee wherever he wanted.

Now we all hope that the dose will not be fatal for the "little tree".

Todays Whisky TF for me is seeing someone make light of a genuine tragedy.
