Multiple websites advertising an item I'm looking for. Apparently this item was discontinued 6 months ago. I figure it's still reasonable to expect some places still have stock. Everyone I've found that is advertising it has no stock or says not available. Why advertise something you dont have and are not likely to ever have in stock.

Even more annoying are sites that show items that were in stock but are now sold, with “Sold” written over the top!!

In Whakatane we used to be able to do 1-7, but maybe five years ago it changed to just 1 and 2.

Annoyingly they sometimes change the rules "by stealth", e.g. the website currently says no plastic bags even if they're labelled 1 or 2, but the Wayback Machine confirms that it didn't used to say that!

I often wonder how much recycling is actually just a placebo meant to make us feel good.

Software with a mind of its own is annoying me again. I typed the phrase "this is dum" into my phone, a play on words during a discussion about agenda/agendum. Despite autocorrect being disabled, the phone decided to change it to "this is dumb"!

When my flash, new, UV Stabilised clothes pegs don't last as long as my really old, plain plastic clothes pegs.

UV stabilised is a joke - you get 18 months instead of 12 months before they crumble away.

I've gradually been replacing them with Living & Co Stainless Steel Pegs which do the job splendidly, and show no signs of falling apart even after several years.

Do you find they leave imprints on clothing at all? With the plastic, the clamping force is often spread over a greater surface area.

Another vote for stainless steel pegs, Mitre 10 had them on special last week, 20 for $5 so we got a couple more packets. Worth the investment, I'll never buy plastic again.

None that I've noticed, but to be honest, I tend not to care about that type of thing.

If that sort of thing is a concern, you could use the metal ones for undies and the like, and the larger ones for clothing that you care about.

Skinny and the hoops you have to jump through to change an email address.

Cant do it yourself online, could take 24-48 hours, have to re register your account and any linked accounts, logged out to test the login worked, nope doesnt work, clear cache, nope, different browser, nope, online chat is useless and slow.

Its a simple email address change, FFS.

And we are still going, waited that time period, still couldn't log in. Called the call centre "We have to blow your account away and you need to re register" PITA but sure. Do that, register a new account, activate the account, still says i need to activate it, even though i activated it, logged out, cant log back in.

Hmmmm

we need to escalate this now. yea no $h1t. i have a new sin i need to activate for my son for school next week.

The lady on the phone was helpful though, so that's at least something

Fleas!

This summer there's a plague of fleas - must be the hot humid weather. Our cat has had them and they seem to be immune to our usual monthly VitaPet Evance flea treatment. Vet recommended BRAVECTO which was more than double the price but lasts 3 months and this seems to have done the trick.

Meanwhile we have to do a couple of flea bomb house treatments 7 days apart to get all the rest of the fleas and flea eggs.

You will get 3 sessions of bravecto before they keep showing up on the cat, I then move to 3 months of treating with advocate which seems to deal with the ones that remain.

Plenty of fleas on the lawn I find when its dry. Keeping the lawn short seems to help minimize them.

I'm stunned that they are making this whole exercise harder for the average household. With the issues we have with plastics and recyclable materials going into landfill, they have just decided that the economic benefits of reducing the number of things you can recycle are better than the environmental impact of people choosing to put all recyclables and a few things that aren't recyclable into the recycling bins.

Basically, if you make it harder to recycle, people will simply stop recycling altogether. They won't work harder to sort their items.
