Drive up to lights. Stop in designated place. Can't see lights.

Behodar:

And the related "stopping at the top of the escalator".

That and people standing right in front of the doors when you want to get out of a just arrived train/bus/tram/subway.

I get really stubborn and bullish when that happens. Walking right towards people and hope they learn a lesson.

When I press the Pause button on my Blu-ray player, I want it to pause. I don't want it to open a menu. I also don't want it to suddenly resume playback five minutes later. So:

  • Who designs these discs?
  • Why are discs able to reprogram Pause in the first place?
  • Why do modern players still not have a "just pause" option in the menu to override these sorts of abuses?

Getting a speeding ticket in the mail, 55k in a 50k area. I thought the 4k thing was holidays?  Then fare  today, going down that same road, I was following a hybrid taxi, Prius or whatever it is, 47k all the way. I assume the taxi fare includes a time based fee/surcharge/addon/rort?

Pretty sure these only ticket the top 15% of cars found over the limit. Apparently no tolerance like road side enforcement due to their accuracy.

55 would be 5k would it not?

Time based charges only apply when stationary, eg; in traffic or at lights. That one seems unlikely. More likely the taxi knows the area and does not want the same ticket.

So someone who is just 3km under the speed limit isn't driving defensively, they are roting you/passengers...

You were speeding. You got a ticket.

Not sure what your complaint is.

Posters who reply to threads without reading anything in the thread. Obviously people can't be expected to plough through all 300 pages of a long thread, but surely they could at least take the trouble to read the last page or two, and maybe the first one. I often see replies that are virtually identical to something three or four posts back. Even worse are posts that seem to be responding only to the thread title, without even having bothered to read the original post. I just saw another one. Poster repeats what was in the first post without adding anything new. Appears not even to have read the first post. What is the point of that?

Cans that still require a can opener. Wine bottles with corks.

Escalator Door Close buttons that dont work.

No, I'm not going to hold open the doors for drones that are ambling their way to the escalators, and then wait for them to decide what floor they are going to, press that floor button, and then change their mind and select a different floor.

Any floor they select is invariably lower than yours, and you have to wait for these people to flaff about.

Cans that don't need a can opener - except when the tear tab breaks off so you really do need a can opener.

Re-sealable tear to open packs which tear to open on the wrong side of the resealable strip.

Frozen pea packets - which could really do with a resealable strip - but don't have them.

People reaching in to dishwasher "tablet in dissolvable wrap" packet with wet hands - so next person (usually me) reaches in and grabs a dozen or so blocks all firmly glued together.

It is fairly obvious don't you think?

The police policy is to allow a 5kph tolerance. Although, not close to schools and some holidays,  i think.

So, to issue a ticket within the well known tolerance level seems almost like entrapment.

If the police changed their policy so there was no tolerance,  then I would agree with you .

Yesterday, one of those robot checkout machines at the supermarket. It wouldn't accept one of the 20 cent coins we were trying to feed it. Grrr.

I have a question about this. Does the tolerance policy mean the speed limit effectively changes, or does it mean at the officer's discretion? I'm not sure the police have the authority to change the official speed limit so it seems to me what they are saying is that we won't bother in most cases, but that isn't a guarantee. You still shouldn't speed.
