Yesterday, one of those robot checkout machines at the supermarket. It wouldn't accept one of the 20 cent coins we were trying to feed it. Grrr.
Ah yeah. Had to Google what a 20 cent piece was :-)
The epic fail of "eco-mode" ...
Dishwasher: Eco mode doesn't clean dishes properly requiring the wash to be repeated (water, eletricity and another tablet). Doesn't dry properly either so a tea towel must be used, washed and dried.
Water saving toilet cisterns: Can't cope after ribs and beer. Even pressing both button, three or four flushes are required where one high capacity old school flush one would have done the job. The cistern also refills at glacial speed.
Water saving showers: the time required to rinse off soap, shampoo etc is measured in weeks. A certain amount of dirt/sweat/soap etc requires a certain amount of water to remove it. There is no getting around that. Ditto when rinsing the shower down after cleaning it.

I have a question about this. Does the tolerance policy mean the speed limit effectively changes, or does it mean at the officer's discretion? I'm not sure the police have the authority to change the official speed limit so it seems to me what they are saying is that we won't bother in most cases, but that isn't a guarantee. You still shouldn't speed.
No the speed limit does not change.
The arguments have been done to death, really.
Either you believe in allowing a tolerance, or not .
Personally, I think having a 5kph tolerance is safer, otherwise your eyes are more on the speedo than the road. And, the cops should either say there is a tolerance, or not. And let people drive accordingly.

The tolerance is there to cater for speedos that may not be calibrated correctly, and from a past therad here, thats common. maybe also to keep eyes on the road and not on the speedo? I sped, 10%, my fault. 1k less, no ticket. Easy money really, how many here never exceed 55k?

I disagree. You should, as a competent driver, always be aware of your speed. That does not require staring at the speedo - the information is quickly and easily gained in a passing glance, combined with your own experience and judgement. Speeding fines are voluntary payments.

Compulsory disclaimer pop-ups at start up on electronic devices. For example my Fishfinder-GPS (Lowrance) and our Mazda 3. At least the car can be driven without accepting the disclaimer. If the enter button on the GPS was broken I wouldn't even be able to read co-ordinates in an emergency.
Pointless PITA in NZ.

Hard to tell what you disagree with, as I made several points.
However, I disagree with your single point. It is impossible to stick to the exact speed limit. Road contour, speedo errors/jitter, wind conditions etc can all contribute to a slight variation in speed.
Even the most competent driver in the world could not drive the limit.
If police do not want drivers to exceed 50kph in a 50 at all, it would be preferable to reduce the speedlimit to 45kph with a 5kph tolerance. Many of our open roads are completely unsuited to a 100kph speed too. In those cases i'd support 0 tolerance, or, even better a reduction in the actual limit.
