Final Episode of S6 of In the Line of Duty.
I have pretty much binge-watched this from S1 recently. I am on the whole very happy with it, though I have to say, the scripting around interpersonal relationships appears to have been written by someone who has never had one. To call it awkward and unlikely seems an understatement.
Having said that, the plots, in general, were fairly decent and downright riveting in places.
I am not sure if a Season 7 is happening at this stage.
Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet, but I've just started watching Time on BBC iplayer staring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham.
Wow, what a show. Gripping and grim. Gives a compelling portrayal of prison life through the eyes of Sean Bean's character, who was by all accounts a decent and law abiding man prior to going to prison (he was a teacher with 'soft hands'). It's a great example of why you never want to go to prison...

also on prime TV in NZ.
Common sense is not as common as you think.
Just started Mare of Easttown. Two episodes in.
First episode, pretty good, mainly character introductions.
Second episode. Wham-mo. I'm in. Hook line and sinker.
Feels like an American version of 'Happy Valley', only darker.
(please, no spoilers, of any kind).

Yeah good show, I like Kate Winslet she is a bloody good actress. I read about her doing this and how no makeup was allowed and the poster's for the show had to be changed because somebody photoshopped her a little and she said it had to be untouched.
Enjoy π

Just finished this, easily worth the 8.6 rating it gets on IMDb. A must watch
Since the year’s complimentary 1 year subscription to AppleTV+ that I got when I bought my AppleTV4K last year was about to expire, I decided I needed to at least watch something.
I had only watched the movie Greyhound in the previous 10 months, so went looking for a series or two to watch.
First was The Morning Show. It was well acted with a solid storyline but suffered by removing any subtlety in its messaging, but that’s American TV for you, removing any requirement to think for yourself. It was pretty much the movie Bombshell in a TV series. There was enough investment in the characters to watch the whole season, but it petered out to a predictable end. Reece Witherspoon’s portrayal of a heroic reporter from a abusive background who ‘does the right thing’ regardless of the consequences, ticked all the award requirements and it was no surprise to find she was an executive producer. As was Jennifer Anniston. 7/10
The second was For All Mankind. It follows an alternative timeline of the American space missions starting at Apollo. I really enjoyed the first season, which nicely weaved historic events with the fictional timeline and showed what might have been if the US had pushed on rather than retreating from the moon after Apollo 17. The second season became more of a “soap opera in space” as one reviewer put it. More interested in putting a 2020 slant on 1970s and 80s America than on telling a story in the context of the time. I’m surprised they stuck with show title, which after all has the word ‘man’ in it. Still I guess they needed to tick all the ‘diversity’ boxes if they want to be in the running for any awards. It had some random plot turns that were totally at odds with the characters they had crafted, and they decided that they didn’t need to stick to the laws of physics. Season 1: 8/10, season 2: 5/10
Will I be renewing my AppleTV+ subscription when I have to pay for it? Yeah, Nah.

The first season certainly felt more grounded in (alternate) reality, but I thought it started to drag a bit towards the end.
Season 2 was more soap-opera. But as far as putting a 2020 slant on it, I thought it was more about how the alternate reality would veer further and further away from our reality as time went by. As a result many things happened earlier, so it's not completely implausible that they'd be dealing issues in the 1980s the we didn't really start to address until much later.
Sweet Tooth on Netflix. Started strongly, with some interesting threads that are evolving. They are going to need to get a tight lid on the writing to stop it getting out of control though.
It has a lot of potential.

Sat down to watch it with my 11 year old. Both of us loved it. Then mister 8 year old walks in, takes one look at the screen and goes "that's Auckland Zoo! what are they doing there?" Cheeky bugger, ruined the suspension of disbelief for us. π€£

Are you kidding? It's Auckland Zoo? I didn't know that!

π I admit it took an 8 year old to recognise something that is plain obvious. π
(updated with a more recent image of Auckland Zoo)
It is weird because when I saw that, there was a part of my brain that had a little spasm but I didn't really get why ;)
