freitasm: Every time I complained about cyclists doing wrong guys stuff like running a red light or going the wrong way I was met with hate and rage from other cyclists.
It is almost like they have a chip with everyone and think they are the only ones on the road.
To be fair, cyclists are treated pretty poorly on the road by motorists. I know someone who was killed when a car decided to open their door without checking, and they ran into the door. I had this problem when cycling myself as a kid, and felt so angry with the driver when it happened. There are just so many bad drivers on the road, and cyclists have to navigate this mess. Everytime I drive, I see motorists breaking that law, driving through red lights, not signalling properly, not knowing how to use a roundabout. And don't get me started with those drivers who are still using mobiles when driving. Real estate agents seem to be the worst from my observations. I don't see that many cyclists breaking the law, but sure it happens, especially with courier cyclists, who are required to deliver within a certain period of time to get paid the full amount.
No excuse for cyclists to be rude and lash on pedestrians.
I don't see the same happening in the weekends. It seems only happen with those cycling to work.

The ones that annoy me the most are the ones that expect the rest of us to put up with detours, road closures and general inconvenience so that they can have a road race on a public highway.

I agree entirely about the bad driving - which affects us all not just cyclists. The fine for running a red light is less than a week's shopping in New World. If the fine for using your phone was $1000, a 1 month ban and your car crushed if you did not pay in 7 days or drove whilst banned, I bet we'd see an uptick in hands free kit sales...

Courier cyclists are about the only cyclists I ever see not breaking the law. Heh, anecdotal evidence is funny like that.
Maybe not these days, although my brother used to be one, and he observed it a lot. They don't get paid as much if they miss delivery by a certain time.

Chicken or the egg? Back when I was a cyclist (before I was old enough to legally operate a motorvehicle on a public road - cycling after that point in life is just plain demeaning) we behaved ourselves and showed other road users courtesy - like staying close to the left of the roadway, obeying the lights and using common sense when travelling in groups - and we had no issues with poor treatment by motorists. Do you see where I'm going with this?
