But the actual ones are so thin they collapse. More annoying I find is the non standard between resturants about which window gives you the napkin and straws.

Perhaps that's a social service - challenging one's mind with such complexities probably helps keep one's mind active and helps ward off dementia.

On that sort of theme, going to a fast food outlet (Nandos was the specific one where I've seen this recently), and the employee is wearing a glove on just one hand and using the gloved hand to hold the takeaway box while using the ungloved hand to pick up and put the food into it.

On that theme, cafes/restaurants where they have bundled up the cutlery and wrapped it in a paper serviette, one end of which they have wet to make it stick. You then have to destroy the serviette to get at it.

Or even when they wear TWO gloves.... but use those same gloved hands to work with the money

(and often don't remove them for all the other daily issues like scratching an itch or turning switches etc.)

Newspapers who print graphic accident photos where people have lost their lives.

Extremely upsetting for the families involved and unnecessary.

Happened twice in the last week. The bay of plenty times ran a front page story of the ex-farmers boss who died in an car accident last week, with his picture next to the wreckage of his car.

And, the two german boys whose car burst into flames when it crashed with the bus.... herald are running an online story now, with a picture of the car on fire while they are being burned alive inside. I think that is despicable and heartless.

Some people will think it is ok but that is my opinion of such things.

Companies that design excellent things, then give them an Achilles Heel so obvious that a child could have thought of it.

For example, brilliant electronic devices.....that have batteries so small that they are rendered far less useful than they should be.

Yes, both dictionary.com and merriam-webster list it something like:

a : to examine or consider with attention and in detail : study
b : to look over or through in a casual or cursory manner

I was just requested to peruse a document, and had to ask which type of perusal they wanted.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I've just ordered a second hand copy of the condensed OED from a US seller (which will probably cost me more in shipping than the books did as the set weighs 6Kg...!) so when that arrives (and trust me, I won't be paying overnight shipping!) I will look it up there.

Mindless and frankly selfish people who take up 1 1/2 car parks when parallel parking... specially happens at school pickups and usually women but may that is because they do the pickups more often. Today especially bad cos of the rain it will get busy. The dopey woman parked behind me using up a space big enough for 1 3/4 cars...

If you have a decently aimed reversing camera it can be quite good to pull into the one infront of them and back up so your towbar is a 10s of mm off their front. Even better when they are in the car.

It does not mean ‘read through quickly; glance over’
