Quick survey: What's the *smallest* (in KB) floppy disk that you've ever used? 50KB 5.25" for me.

I used to do consulting for CPM PC, that used a z86 processor, before IBM introduced the first PC.

These processors are still manufactured. They cost pennies and are used in microwave ovens.

Their OS was CCPM-86 and it took quite a while to compile a simple Fortran-77 program.

8" seen in Operation. The Deutsche Bahn (German railways) used it once upon a time to compile their customers an individual, tailored railway schedule from the starting Station to the Destination. OMG, I'd forgotten mag core memory - had seen them ( and NOT in a museum ) - in use in some NCR computer or something. Memory bits you could actually SEE !!! Amazing. Especially that they managed to thread 3 wires thru iddly piddly holes. Thousands of times on the one board.

You notice the incessant and pervasive dumbing down of everything from government communications to financial pamphlets and BBC documentary presenters.

All of a sudden, we all seem to be being addressed as if we were a bit 'special'. Infuriating.

... when you notice that Airbnb 'sent' strange, drug consuming guys to the neighborhood making noise of a whole battalion, woke you up just to ask at 4:00am for a nice breakfast recommendation in the vicinity.

I'm not sure if they got a decent breakfast-invitation for the Police Station arranged by the guy next door (a SQUAD's leading officer).
