If I buy a movie theatre ticket and don't turn up, I expect I have to pay for another full price ticket, so I can't see how they have _lost_ money...

Cynic in me says they will overbook and then make the person who missed pay for another ticket so they have paid twice for the same journey.

Many tickets allow last minute changes in booking, and the expected number of these changes are the number of overbookings. If they didn't do this then they are not flying at capacity.

Hotels also overbook to deal with expected cancellations.

On that note, people that insist on making up their own phonetic alphabet and then use it wrong too. It's just "MIKE" to give "M" not "M for Mary". I'll never forget the time I was relaying something and it started with a W so I said "WHISKEY" and the other person says "W... H... I... S... K... how do you spell WHISKEY again?"

Indeed. I actually had a conversation with someone and when I used the phonetics, they said "I don't do that - can you just give me the letters?"!!

The phone number thing is really annoying. How hard is that to get correctly formatted when you speak it?

Dragging paying passengers off your plane with security just to avoid putting your own staff on ticketed flights on another airline (for example) is akin to booting hotel guests out of their rooms because hotel staff need the space...!

Wikipedia says Mary was in use as early as 1928. Delta can't be used in aviation.

I know that I don't remember all the correct words. I only use it in an informal situation and will use a word that I think will be familiar to the listener.

They have paid and are entitled to do anything with it they like that doesn't cause problems. They can use it for their cello (as musicians are required to do anyway). They can put a teddy bear in it. They can leave it empty. If they have paid for it what they do with it is no-one else's business, including the airline's.

Some bookings allow you to just turn up for a later flight and similar things, so not always are they getting money for nothing with no shows.

I've been in the departure lounge waiting for my flight when they try to bump people .

Even people who have paid for seats do not turn up -- maybe on flexible tickets, no idea, as i always get the cheapest ones myself haha.

Looks like a very common problem, i tried the proposed fixes but nothing works.

To download podcasts, i need to select each one manually.

This kind of stuff really bugs me.

Podcasts have never really floated my boat but on the same subject, iTunes. It is an unholy mess that needs a complete redesign now. It has so many idiosyncrasies and weird behaviours and tries to cram too much into one program. Is it a phone/iPad management system? Is it a music app? Is it a music store? A video store? A book store?

It does not adhere to standard Apple functionality either. For example, my mouse has back and forward buttons that do just that in Safari and most other Apple apps. In iTunes, they do nothing...

Flexible seats usually require you to actively use the flexibility rather than simply turn up some other time and fly instead..! So the airline would know if you had used that flexibility to shift your bum to another flight.

Companies that send you shipping emails with links to track your item that when you click them result in a message on the courier company website telling you the tracking number is invalid. Looking at you, Nespresso!
