Finch: Anybody have any idea how much DSE are selling Nespresso Inissia machines for (If they sell them at all)

I couldn't see a single one in the two stores I visited on Saturday.

BTW. Just checked the DSE Facebook and this weekend you can take a further 10% off some items, but there are some exclusions.

I went it to get 10% off already  discounted things as part of their VIP promotion this evening, but pretty much there was very little that qualified. Although they were advertising 10% off the clearance vodafone phones, there weren't actually any clearance vodafone phones being sold, as most had sold out a week earlier. They are hadn't removed many of the sale signs on things that were sold out like they should have. It really is a mess. They want you to come into the store to buy the clearance stock as per TV adverts on tonight, but very little now on clearance as all the good stuff sold out nearly a week ago.

amiga500: Their stock situation looks kind of patchy at DSE Riccarton.    Plenty of TVs if you want a JVC, some Samsungs as well.     Lots of stock in their kitchen section.     Not as many laptops on display as a month ago.    Quite a few printers in stock but that area looks a little bare.    External hard drives but only Seagates I could see.    Less than a dozen cameras on display.   Plenty of display phones in the Spark, Skinny, Vodafone, and 2 degrees sections.

Makes you wonder how long this will run for - maybe they have stated that - but also, what is their plan for the group for the future once the sale is over. Restock/rejuvenate/re-invent themselves or close down completely? Maybe they have dug themselves a hole they can't get out of. Probably take a long time to turn the brand around after years of gradual decline then the last 1-2 weeks of emergency descent. Would it be possible to save it?

They may well be 'operating with the assistance of their bankers' - which is code for 'company in financial strife, banks are calling the shots to try and get their money back without calling in receivers or liquidators'.

I saw in their most recent Annual Report that they have a very large (AUD135 million) syndicated trans-Tasman bank loan with National Australia Bank and its subsidiary BNZ, and HongKong Shanghai Bank. This was put in place as recently as June 2015 so there may be some bank corporate relationship managers looking forlornly at their Christmas bonuses after this turn of events.

Did you see anything on the fancy looking speaker cables that were normally $80 or so?

The Cat6 stuff isn't bad either

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered some. Has anyone figured out how to get that stupid click and collect working? It just sent me around in circles. I finally gave up and just paid the home delivery charge. Still a good deal.

I used it Monday and worked very smoothly. Could be your browser, I used chrome. Got a txt about 20 mins after I did the order saying it was ready to be picked up. They had it at the counter waiting for me when I showed up.

I ordered three cables. One is on the way. It is unclear whether I will get the other two.

Well, have ordered 5 of the 82c HDMI cables and some of their $7.something for 20 meters of cheap nasty looking speaker cable.

It's funny how some people who've made a point that they avoid the DSE retail stores are keen to point out how badly DSE is doing. laughing

From the general tone of the thread I'd got the impression that they'd be haemorrhaging a lot worse than they are. IMO that small profit is quite respectable. The stores do look quite bare but I've seen a lot of people spending there. This is the case even in Lower Hutt where JB HiFi just opened a big new store.

I've just tried to order some cheap stuff from the DSE site and it failed: "We apologise but we were unable to process your card payment, please check your card details and re-enter or try using an alternate payment method or card type."

"Re-enter" my payment details? Well, maybe I could do that if it had asked me for them in the first place...

Edit: Something's broken; I've gone back to the homepage, opened my cart and clicked "proceed to checkout" and it's just reloading the cart. Really helpful there!

Worked fine for me, it loads in an iframe that took quite a while to load in a big blank space below an option for voucher, so perhaps give it a bit longer.
