Paul1977:

Finished watching Foundation, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The parts focusing on the Genetic Dynasty were the best parts, and the brothers Empire the most interesting characters.

Have watched several episodes of Invasion, but for the most part have been unimpressed. Advertising it as featuring Sam Neil is pretty misleading.

Technically it did star Sam Neill.

I have actually quite enjoyed it so far.

I’m also part way through the first couple of episodes of Cowboy Bepop on Netflix. I’m enjoying it but know nothing of the Anime of the same name.

First 4 (5?) seasons are really good.  Just as the first couple of books are really good then it goes down hill.

Bit Like True Blood.

Both (very different) but ground breaking.

The Beatles: Get Back, on Disney+...

I was sleeping two thirds into the first episode. Not sure why Peter Jackson had to make it as slow-moving (but without the magnificent scenes) as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I am not sure I will finish the first episode or watch the rest.

i tend to agree , if you are a huge Beatles fan then it would be a fascinating watch, for the normal person it is just 2 hours of 4 grown men talking and arguing

And that's two hours something for the first episode alone.

I started watching the first episode yesterday morning. Was quite interesting as background and showing them getting on with each other.

Interesting to see the creative process at work - But after an hour that was about as much as I could take.

Maybe there will be an edited down 'movie length' (90-120 minutes) version at some stage. But yes - Much toooooo long!

Sure the other day I saw a review that said the only really decent bit was the rooftop concert at the end with the police downstairs arguing with the people in reception.

I'm a bit biased as I grew up in Liverpool, but even I'll agree it is a bit long and ponderous.

But.. Musicians and songwriters will be dissecting this for years. It really is a treasure trove and hearing how some of their classic material came together is amazing. I'm about 2/3 the way through episode 2 at this stage.

One of his other works wasn't nicknamed "Bored of the rings" for nothing.

"They shall not grow old" was brilliant though - Hope there is not a 4 year real time extended edition somewhere....

He had 57 hours of original film to edit down to the 9 or so that's been streamed so he did show some restraint. I've watched the first two and while thererwere bits that were a little slow I found it mostly fascinating. And from a technology point of view the 16 mm film cameras did not record any sound and all the sound was recorded on separate tape recorders. So we had to sync all the sound back to the video which was a major achievement in itself.

I also read he sent copies to Paul and Ringo for a preview and received no comments back on what to add or delete so they must have approved the entire thing.

I agree with all this. It is a major achievement and it is fascinating to see the creative process, the interpersonal relationships and all that. My comment is purely about the length.
