It will start tomorrow and will be delayed 20 mins to allow for censorship if needed.

Yes, support the principle, not the man. I never did understand the over the top Rambo-style raid with the armed commandos, helicopters and the whole shebang. Why didn't they just have an ordinary cop knock on the door in the normal way? Was this done for American reality television? Was our supposedly impartial justice system trying to suck up to Big Brother?

Other than that, I think Dotcom has done a lot to bring some colour into our lives. For that alone, I am grateful to him. Some figures are just larger than life.

And it is worth remembering that, at worst, his crime is copyright violation. How many here can honestly say they have not been guilty of that at some point in their lives? He just did it on a larger scale, like everything he does. There are a lot of other people here I would much rather gift to America.

there's a difference between you as an "end-user" downloading "free" movies and creating a business model based around others uploading and downloading movies.

Agree, but he's still not in the same league as a murderer or terrorist or meth manufacturer but if he goes to America that is how he will be treated.

Isn't he charged with money laundering or racketeering or something (don't really know, can't say I've kept myself informed). Bit of an over-reaction for some of your customers breaking copyright, but then Hollywood is in America...

should've thought about that before lying about your previous convictions to Immigration NZ and coming here thinking NZ was a soft-touch

we can all hate Hollywood as much as we like, but I'm sure we'd all be annoyed if it was our intellectual property being stolen

I haven't kept up to date with it either, but as far as copyright violation charges go it seems to me he was just making it easier for others to break the law, but was he actually breaking the law himself? Not saying that what he did was right, but was was it illegal?

If I send something illegal via NZ post, is NZ post liable for the fact that I committed a crime?

In America why aren't gun shop owners held responsible for selling guns to mass shooters? Why aren't the legislators who make it so easy to get guns held accountable?

I think we have had this discussion before. There are different ways of defining intellectual property and also different ways of defining theft.

I feel rightly or wrongly the Dot-com is taking the piss out of New Zealand.

Given the TPP is dead, and I believe it was a motivating factor in NZ assisting the way they did, I do wonder how much support the US is going to get from NZ Authorities in any remaining process.

Well true, but I was more wondering how relentless the pursuit would be if he was suspected of infringing the copyright on Enid Blogs memoirs of life in Manitoba during the Great Bruusel Sprout Blight of the 1870's.
