Respectfully I disagree. the ethnicity of the protesters did not need to be signalled out.

Respectfully, not being able to see how the ethnicity of the protestors was directly relevant to the comment is today's Whiskey Tango Foxtrot for me :-P

Reminds me of a mates daughter and her free dumb posts on Facebook stating ".. our fore fathers fought for our freedom...".

Thing is, she is born in Sth Africa, her parents are Afrikaans and I am wondering which side of the fence her fore fathers fought on.

floydbloke:

Yeah, it's bit like Maori Mongrel Mob members chanting 'sieg heil'.

Not really..

The anti-vax trump people genuinely believe in their nonsense. The Mob adopted 'Sieg Heil' (and the British Bulldog topped with a German Stahlhelm) as a deliberate "up yours" to the authority/society of the time which was predominantly WW1 and WW2 veterans who hated all things German with a passion.

It is quite odd when you think what the Germans of that era would have done to the Mongrel Mob!

It adds an additional layer of hypocrisy.

Fixed that post for you

No, you've rendered it meaningless. "Man bites dog" is both news and a W T F. The neutered form "Thing bites thing" (think "mosquito bites arm") is neither of those.

Today's W T F: High-end audio in general, but Synergistic Research in particular. They have a whole series of videos on their stuff, here's a recent example.

It's like watching someone calmy and rationally talk their way through a psychotic episode. I'm sure it's all real to them, but to an outside observer it's just... unreal. He's describing an alternate reality as if it was a real thing.

I see Google presents "snake oil" as a search term when you type in "Synergistic Research"

Actually, what @jarledb said.

SR are particularly egregious even by audio snake-oiler standards, but many of the others aren't much better. Some of the high-end audio forums will actually ban postings that contain words like "ABX", "objective testing", "blind tests", "placebo", and so on (for those not familiar with the terms, it's all things denoting empirical evaluation as opposed to someone solemnly vapourising about "soundstage" and similar, which is how real high-end audio products are evaluated).

I know its lowbrow entertainment, but as a technical person seeing woo-wooers trying to justify their high-end audio gear with the same aplomb as a cat justifying a bicycle provides amusement from time to time.

Reading that Jurgen Klopp thinks it's ridiculous how many games his football squad are playing lately - bemoaning the "stretching thin" of the squad etc etc...when the richest clubs have the largest and deepest squads who are the least affected by an excess of games.

Also - footballers forgetting that they are in the entertainment industry and that their sole reason for being employed is to entertain the masses - the masses don't care if a bunch of multi-millionaires who get paid crazy money to play a sport many actually pay to play are a bit tired or want a break.

The smaller teams play in fewer competitions, and don't make it as far in the cup competitions they do enter, so yes the players of big teams do play far more hours and are therefore more prone to injury. Having said that, some of the top teams, Man City, Chelsea and even Man United do have deeper benches than Liverpool, and we saw how badly impacted Liverpool are when someone like VVD gets injured.

Klopp is signalling to FSG? that he wants more money to have more than just 11 first team quality players so that he too can rotate and give some players a rest. So yes while they are largely in the entertainment industry, they are still people with families etc. And of course he wants to protect his players so that he has the best chance of challenging for the Premier and Champions League titles :)

People who believe in govt conspiracies.  I mean I've worked in and with govt departments.  The institutions of govt are barely capable of organising a booze up in a brewery.  The contention that one govt could successfully organise a conspiracy is amusing.  The idea of a global multi-government conspiracy is hilarious.

Give them a job in govt, they'll soon understand.  Maybe in MBIE who couldn't correctly implement one of the statutes they are responsible for enforcing.
