So sadly my package is still lost in space - the staff at NZPost/Youshop seems fairly vague about the service/how it works etc... when I contacted them they said they would investigate and call me back but that was at the start of the week. So, this far I'd have to give Youshop the thumbs down.

However, for those of you that are having good experiences - check out this deal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-Eee-Pad-Transformer-Prime-10-1-Multi-Touch-32GB-Tablet-/390498699602

A "Hold" is a temporary freeze on available balance put by a merchant. Usually it's released automatically by the credit card company between 48 hours and a week...

That's why is not wise to use credit card at pumps for example as they put a hold on your account until you finished pumping, when they them know the actual amount to charge - but the hold stays for a while until it's autoamtically released.

Never seen that in action here, its always the retarded "we can only prepay up to $99" crap everytime I have wanted a fill and they were on prepay.

With Black Friday specials, I am looking at ordering my next parcel to ship to this address, Just concerned that the USA shop uses boxes that are too big with minimal packaging.

Mine is on similar timing from the us, nothing on arrival in nz yet tho

Well I thought I would give the service a try to save some hassle for my daughter to go to the PO all the time for me :-) And since their service is in Oregon I would save on CA sales tax.

Well one thing I found out is, it does not work if you shopping at a site that does address verification against the credit card (as opposed to just checking that an address is a valid one).

My credit card billing address is in CA and I was not able to buy an item from a site since it complained about the address. I then tried Paypal (a US Paypal account) and added Youshop's address to it. That also failed since the address I made as the primary being Youshop's address is not verified.

Oh well perhaps for a less picky site it might work as others have discovered. It seems Google don't care and neither do Amazon based on what I have read in this thread.

Decided to give it a go so today I ordered one "Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive" @ US$109.99 (missed the chance earlier on to get it for $99!).

Will follow it closely to see how this first trial gets on; everything smooth I will order a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 later.

It is! I was very surprised to get the parcel the day after it arrived in Auckland
Why can't regular USPS parcels (First Class, Priority and EMS) take a day to get down .. they always take 3-4 days.

I was so impressed that I did order some more items from a store in the USA, with no credit card rejections. Hopefully my concerns over the order arriving in the largest box known to man, along with no packaging is incorrect.

I usually have traced things in my mailbox the day after they show as being in NZ, had have many airmail items from the US and UK arrive in under a week but this time of year is a lot of work for them with suckers... err consumers who buy into this whole christmas carryon posting gifts to family all across the world.

The massive delays in airmail I get are almost always from a single country, which is why many ebay sellers are now sending out of singapore instead.

No luck for me yet, feeling a bit disappointed after a promising start!
Received notification email that package had arrived on the 16th. Paid on the same day. Received confirmation payment had been received.
Received email on the 17th saying parcel is on the way with estimated arrival in Auckland in 5-7 days.
No sign of it yet!

Cheers,
Joseph

Mine sent out from Oregon last Wednesday the 21st and arrived in Auckland yesterday the 26th so it seems odd that one sent on the 16th is taking so long.

On a side note, any idea how long customs clearance usually takes with NZ Post?

I've been talking to NZPost today about my package clearing, they must be having a busy day (i guess all the packages arriving over the weekend are being processed), may be processed by the end of the day.

It'll be all uphill from here on in too i'd imagine. Hopefully not delaying too much. Wouldn't mind a few things i've ordered arriving before Christmas. Actually i'd say they would soon be processing even on the weekend just to keep up.
