Companies that offer price match guarantees but make it difficult to price match.

eg, tonys tyre service... they offer a price beat guarantee, but they don't say which tyres they stock. So, they want you to actually visit them first, at which point who can be bothered doing a price match?

Bunnings / mitre 10 etc are a bit similar, they will offer slightly different product numbers so that customers cannot price match. Maybe the only difference is the box but it is still an escape clause for them.

They will usually drop the shelf price to a few cents under the other ones price so that they then do not have to match, and when you take that photo to the other one they will refuse to match the price because they say that they only match advertised prices. They refuse to match it despite labels on shelves being advertising.

I had a win with this once. I needed four of something at about $80 each. Both Bunnings and Mitre10 had it with the exact same SKU (they were PVC drain-gates, no packaging). Can't recall the exact price difference but Mitre10 was cheaper by a matter of a few cents. Bunnings came through on their '15% off' promise, I saved about $60. The Bunnings guy was rather stunned that they were dearer. Once confirmed though, he did nothing to hide his annoyance. I did nothing to hide my glee.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

I had a win some time ago with Mitre 10. A hatchet-faced lady rang the competitor to verify the price but then gave me the discount with no further problem.

The advertised price, is the price on the shop fitment, so they should have matched that, as the shop fitting price is often the only way to show a competitors price. I recall a fair go story about one retailer reducing the price in their computer system, but not on the shop fitment, so refused to then price match.

But the whole thing isn't good for the consumer, especially in sectors where there isn't much competition in the market.

I don't understand the code content but on an iPad the appearance is totally fine and all fits within screen etc.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

When you're on a slow as.....wifi connection in a hotel and Android decides it needs to update 72,000 apps.

They do this on purpose to stop their customers from ringing them.

Lenovo is a classic. They make it easy to find their phone number for sales, but really difficult to find the support number.

I just ring the number there is and ask to speak to support. It annoys them by jamming up their operators on non-sales calls...!

I had a related one today where the serial number on the product I had called support for was so small I - literally - needed a magnifying glass (yes, I do have one on my desk!) in order to read it! It was also very long.

I just disabled automatic app updates. As I got sick of it always updating right when I was wanting to use the phone. Both making the interface really laggy and using more battery due to the extra processor load. I now update apps manually as needed. Sure Facebook is now pestering me that it needs to be updated. But the "What's New" blurb simply says - improvements for reliability and speed. Yet older versions were definitely faster and more reliable. Also an update will never be able to improve the actual content on Facebook.

A simple update rule something along the lines of only run updates when phone is both connected to a charger and has Wifi would be better. And even better again would be: Charge phone to 100% first, then run app updates. When im asleep and the phone is plugged into the charger overnight, It has plenty of time to do updates. A Facebook update is never so important that it can't wait until 3am before updating.

Even Windows is happy to wait for me to finish my work first. And then apply updates at shutdown.
