Yabanize: In Christchurch they are now doing table service for all orders, Although I heard Create Your Taste is being dumped.

I just went to my local one and found table service now offered (at least in theory; the kiosk offered it but there was no sign of the number tags you're supposed to take).

I like using CYT; do you know whether that's just Christchurch or nationwide? Google didn't find anything relevant to NZ, only some articles stating that it's going away in the US.

I havent had a create your taste for ages. So long waiting for it. Was really nice but the only time I ever really dine in is at food courts and they never offered it there, just at the detached ones which I drive thru.

Wife wanted to stop at McDonald's last night for ice cream. Walking back from Cuba St to CBD but don't know the street name of the Maccas.

Had to point out to staff that the bins were overflowing onto the floor. Got a typically millennial yeah later response, so we left.

I've done it 2 or 3 times. Found it overly salty, greasy and drippy every time so stopped.

That Trade Me's search function persists in changing words it thinks you spelt incorrectly, when they are, for example, proper names and therefore not spelt incorrectly. It won't allow you to over-ride the correction, either!

@Yabanize:

Shops that don't accept Visa.. I mean I know it cost's more, But this was a busy food court Chinese place. Lucky I had cash or I would have just walked away.

They don't realise it's going to make them lose business

It didn't. You still ate there.

And it was busy.

Further to this - went to a Chinese place yesterday for lunch that was recommended to me and no EFTPOS - CASH ONLY. It was busy and every bit as delicious as I had been promised. It's certainly not doing them any harm. What's more they're denying the middle men a cut on all the transactions. I like that sort of thing.

People that, just because they can instantly message you, expect to be able to change long standing plans at the very last minute to suit themselves for arbitrary reasons that have considerable effects on your plans that you've made to suit. They quickly find themselves on the "don't bother making any plans with" group in my Google contacts.

How small the bulb-type code is printed on some bulb packages.  It's the most handy info when replacing an obscure bulb, but its usually the smallest print on the packaging.  It's no problem when replacing a 22mm bayonet or Edison bulb the code is plain as day.  But on the packet for the weird light that goes in the range hood it's the smallest font on the box and locate somewhere obscure..

A cynic might think the manufacturer only cares that when a replacement is needed you buy one of their bulbs.

Not whether you buy the correct bulb ...

By the time the bulb blows, the ink labelling the type of bulb will be loose and come off on your hand when removing it from socket leaving you with no fxxxxx idea which sub type it is and guaranteeing multiple trips to mitre 10 or purchases of multiple seemingly near identical bulbs....

I think each successive generation has an easier life, gets a little less resilient and expects a little more.

My parents generation were hardier than mine and happier with less.

My grandparents even more so.

The great-grandparents I met were utterly rugged.

I look at my kids generation and I see a lack of resilience and pathological dependence on technology.

They will probably will eventually face greater challenges than the two generations before them ... yet they are softer.

Insert USB drive. Copy single file off. Eject USB drive. Wait. Wait some more. Get told that ejecting failed because something's using it. Unplug the drive. Get "yelled" at for not ejecting it first.

It's not my fault that it didn't bother to eject it properly when I told it to...

I doubt that. I had several service jobs from which I would have been summarily dismissed for some of the attitudes which you see today.

Go into a McDonalds in the US and see how often the bins are allowed to spill food and packaging all over the floor. Of course, it could be culturally specific rather than age specific.
