Rikkitic:

Are you one of those who make a living eating for free at funerals?

No, I’m not @Fred99 s FIL. But very few funerals I’ve been to have actually charged for food.

Food should be covered in your Cigna funeral insurance plan.

I'm pleased to say that despite being old, since locking down tracking cookies etc on my web browsers and really locking down security on social media, I'm not seeing ads for funeral plans every time I open a web page lately.  Instead I've had Philips breast-pump ads on facebook for some unfathomable reason.  They look pretty good, but as I drink black coffee I'm buggered if I know what I could use one for.

The mind boggles!

PS: I’m sure you realised I was joking about funerals and paying for food.

..you go for a scan, ask the 40 something doing it whether she has seen anything of concern and get the reply "Oh no - nothing I would not expect to see in a person of 50."

But it does happen ...

In a provincial centre a few years ago, a funeral director thought he recognised an elderly couple at the 'after match' from another funeral only a few days ago.
He took a picture and asked around his mates in the local industry (not that many funeral parlours in a provincial centre).
Sure enough, he discovered that other directors also recognised them, it seemed like they were getting a free feed at least a couple of times a week.

So the next time they turned up, they were politely warned off

A bit like the retired investors who go to public companies’ Annual General Meetings which often have a morning or afternoon tea after the meeting - and you see them shovelling the sausy rolls and scones into their handbags for ‘afters’.

You decide to buy new sun glasses and the child in the Oakley store suggests ruby red gold mirrors in some stealth fighter shape and you realise you'll look dumb as f wearing such things at your age - and regret that fact!

Scrolling down into the early 1950's in the date column when filing in your DOB on a website - it takes so long to get there and you wonder if the list is going to go back far enough.

...you still type exit to close a command prompt window.

And yes, I still do, it just seems quicker than moving your hand from the keyboard to the mouse, moving the cursor up to the red x and clicking it.

When you grew up the 1950's themes were considered nostalgic.

Not the 1990's themes are considered nostalgic.

Getting asked for ID is cause for a humorous response.
