Successfully repairing a home appliance yourself (wall oven element replacement, required some engineering prowess because of different screw hole sizes) rather than paying someone else, or worse having to buy a new one.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
Yesterday I discovered, after much searching, some skin modifications that make Kodi more readable from a distance. Today I greatly improved the performance of my RBI router by installing a firmware upgrade to go with a recent mast upgrade. These are both things that have caused me much frustration for a very long time. I feel like I have a lot to smile about.

Making my own homemade Hummus for the first time, which I piled slow cooked pulled Lamb shoulder on top of. Was fantastic. Also managed to make some hot garlic pita bread on the side.
I'm a moderator on another forum. All my posts have a green "Staff Member" icon next to them.
Some spammer decided that one of my own threads was the best place to post his first piece of spam. Naturally I got an alert saying that I had a response, and I took great pleasure in hitting the ban button within seconds of his posting.
Bought 5 micro USB to type C adapters today for NZ$1.41 from online Asian store. Stark contrast to paying e.g. NZ$14 each locally
i.e. 50x difference
I followed a Buzzfeed link then succumbed to a clickbait quiz that said it could guess how old I was based on my food choices. The result? I am in my 20's. That made me smile as I am well into my 70's.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Sitting outside when it's 21 degrees, in winter, waiting for the roos to come out.

Kelpie X is waiting too...

I can easily share news stories on Facebook!

You'd get a clear shot at them from the veranda - get cheap tucker for the dogs, avoid the middle-man. Keep the best bits, hang it on the fence, marinade of crow spit and fly juice, buy a six pack, have a barbie.

Or just wait for the neighbours wagyu to be old enough... ![]()
And seriously, who only buys a six pack???
(and even more seriously, even farmers here have hard times keeping guns these days... our gun safe has fluoro tubes in it now)

Kiwis with a $20 note - hoping to buy a dozen.
So, yesterday was a very busy day. I am a foodie, and Thursday for the Auckland Food Show is like Xmas day to me, and we arrive early and usually end up being dragged out by security. It's a huge day, expensive, and tiring. I am shattered when I get home. Hop into bed with my wife, she is asleep within seconds, and starts to snore. I don't mean dainty snoring like some people, I mean feeding a 100 ft kauri tree into a wood chipper loud. Loud enough my neighbours come over at 2am banging on the door demanding we stop mowing our lawns in the middle of the night loud. Anyways, I am just starting to fall asleep and I feel a tap tap tap and my 9 year old son has had a bad dream.. So I drag him into bed, and like all kids who have bad dreams he is clinging to me for dear life until he starts to feel better. He falls asleep after a few minutes, I am JUST starting to drift back to sleep... Tap tap tap, my 6 year old is having a bad dream too. I drag her into bed. She is tiny and basically opts to cling to my front like a back pack, my son has moved between my wife and I and is a Klingon on my starboard bow, and I am balancing my body on the 3mm of bed left for me. I am lying in bed and despite my wife still snoring like she is a crane demolishing a highrise, 2 kids stuck to me like the barnacles on a boat, and as I am falling asleep, I still realize there is no where else in the world I would rather be.
On Saturday I made lamb-shanks in a Rendang curry paste in my slow cooker. Delicious.
