Geektastic:

I see this with my brother in the US. If he looks at pricing on the Air NZ US site and I look on the NZ site for seats on the same flight, the NZ one is usually way more than the US. To sit on the same plane, in the exact same seat!

Well, you know, we are so far away from everything, the overheads are higher, freight transport of electronic tickets from the USA to NZ is a real killer, so many added costs in such a small market....

Of course. Silly me. Not to mention that the 30% difference is mostly, you know, 15% GST.

Your comment above got me thinking, so thought I would get some figures from the Emirates Website as they break the fare structure down (UK Sterling converted to NZ$). The trips are calculated on the same days.

UK to NZ $6,120.98 (Total includes Fare = $5,147.16 / Carrier Imposed Charges = $635.43 / Taxes & Fees = $338.39)

NZ to UK $4,089.42 (Total includes Fare = $4,043.00 / Carrier Imposed Charges = NONE / Taxes & Fees = $46.42)

Total Airfare charges for travel originating in NZ to the UK are cheaper, have lower taxes and no Carrier Imposed Charges.

Interestingly, if the same scenario was to apply for a return trip (November to February), the following applies:-

UK to NZ RETURN $7,036.25 (Total includes Fare = $5,380.80 / Carrier Imposed Charges = $1,270.86 / Taxes & Fees = $384.59)

NZ to UK RETURN $7,734.53 (Total includes Fare = $7,350.00 / Carrier Imposed Charges = NONE / Taxes & Fees = $384.53)

In this case, Total Airfare (RETURN) charges for travel originating in the UK are cheaper, even though they have higher imposed carrier charges. I suspect a Carrier Imposed Charge is something that has to be shown on UK origination fares due to some strange EU law.

That regulars on Geekzone don't seem to understand how seriously we take our FUG, and so should they.

One that is far too regularly ignored or forgotten is:

When talking about a company use their real name. We follow the principle that respect must go both ways.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Would have been about as easy to unload by just taking up one lane, and would have been much more considerate. Hope you got the licence plate as well, should send it to Farmers headquarters...

Vector are doing work in the street that requires closing it off for a crane, and putting the power onto a tempory supply at some insane early hour of the morning, so I will have to shut the PCs down overnight since I dont want to be getting up to do that in the morning. Also have to take the car out past where the road is being closed stupidly early too.

Gosh. I'm not too sure what to say here. I assume your comment was tongue in cheek?

An Aussie $5 note is very similar colour to a NZ $50 note in a stack of bills.
