Ge0rge: Und kine Eier

For people wondering what we're on about:

A heavy industrial guitar played over a reversed drum beat in compound triple meter. The lyrical component of the song is in German, performed by Marko Fox, a member of ZAUM. He is backed by a sound that resembles a hydraulic press, and crowd cheering and applause that increase in volume as the lyrics are read with increasing ferocity. These combined effects make the song sound like a militant German rant or Nazi rally.

The joke is that, although it sounds like a Nazi rally, and the word “Satan” is in the title, the lyrics are not aggressive or violent in any way. To the contrary, they are actually a recipe for cookies

Bands like Laibach also exploit this effect.

The way you describe it, I'd rather shave my nether regions with a rusty razor than listen to that!

So got a longish survey from Air NZ following a WLG to CHC flight, which included N/A for all questions until I got to the ones for the new pre-flight safety video. So they know who I am, my Airpoints number and what flight I'm on, but they don't allow for the fact that ATR 72 flights do not have a safety video?

They know. They don't care.

At least you were spared one of their “comedy” videos. Be grateful for small mercies.

The fact that there were FIVE drive-by shootings in Auckland over the weekend. What is this country turning into?

Where is the government and police action to find and imprison the perpetrators? They were quick enough to take the low hanging fruit by removing legally held firearms from law abiding owners but seem totally inactive when it comes to dealing with the actual criminals.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot indeed.

Yep, Police failed by allowing the mosque shooter to own firearms when he clearly wasn't suitable, then govt attempts to cover it up by confiscating property of law-abiding citizens.  The next round of smokescreens - making life more difficult for shooting clubs and those wanting to enter the sport - is just beginning.  Meanwhile, gangs and criminals just carry on with what they're good at.

Although I wasn't personally affected by the "buy-back", it has clearly been a total failure in achieving anything meaningful

I wouldn't say taking some guns out of the streets was a bad move.

I do agree that this makes not much difference when gangs have access to those pretty much freely. Like the "smack law", criminalising parents that smack a kid's bottom, while doing nothing to prevent actual deaths inflicted by parents that have no idea of what they are doing with their lives. Too much on one side, too little on the other side.

Neither would I, but that is precisely what the "buy back" didn't do.  Licensed firearm holders don't wander the streets with guns; they store and use firearms in tightly controlled conditions - even more so for those who had the license endorsement for MSSAs.

Sorry getting political so I'll get off the soapbox
