Most of the links I have seen are to NZ auctions, and there are links to some asian websites including auctions, so it looks like it was a model that wide released around asia. Someone earlier said it may have been a rebadged 1006TU, but looking at the specs now on the HP website they are quite different.

yeah, hence not being just an HN model. often models will be geographically released, but its definitely not a Harvey Norman only model.

It doesn't seem to have a VGA output mentioned in the specs. Also it says it comes with a DVD drive. Maybe the specs are wrong. Also on the Noelleemings website is says the 1006 harddrive is a 4200 speed.

All the 110's have VGA out and I think the DVD drive is an optional external extra as no netbook is big enough to fit a DVD drive.

This whole discussion on the HP models is a bit pointless as we've already been told that it's an ASUS that is on it's way.

Been called twice by the Propeitor of the Lower Hutt branch over the last two days asking me to call him. For one reason or another, I only managed to call this morning.

He told me that he had managed to secure me a HP Mini from another branch. He said that someone had backordered three before Christmas and then cancelled once they saw the sale price. So, in theory another two people should be getting a call saying they have managed to get hold of a HP Mini. The likely people to get called are probably those that have the HP Mini listed on their receipt and who had contacted Anna Johnson or other senior staff at HN.

I'm to be contacted when it arrives in. Since the ASUS build was going to be the same spec, I suppose I'm not missing out, and the sale price of $288 was good to start with, so can't really complain.

UPDATE: Further to my comment above about the other two HP Minis, I've been told that these had already been allocated to others prior to me receiving my news. Sorry if this got anyone elses hopes up.

It's been the same "indicative" specs for 3 weeks! They're just the basic specs of the HP Mini which we've all known about since day 1. I find it hard to believe they aren't able to quote an ASUS model number by now. It's ridiculous.

Agreed.Someone just isn't telling everyone else at H.N maybe?
And it could be only a week when the netbook/laptop's are ready to be sold etc to the people with rainchecks..so i'm surprised no-one's been told a model number yet

Yeah it doesn't make any sense to me that they're not giving us the model number.

I mean, if it's good (i.e. 1005), people will be happy.

If it's not good (i.e. 1000), then most people will probably still take them, and if they don't, then HN can just re-sell them again, probably for considerably more than $288 and more than their costs.

So, really, it's a "win-win" for HN to give us more information!
