Finch: @Asmcar

Did you raid the Lyall Bay store as well?

I went out there a few times but didn't grab anything significant just a few cases and a kindle accessory pack.

And botany!😅

The only thing I saw left that might have been worthwhile was the Logitech harmony smart hub remote control for $100. Not an amazing deal but cheaper than anywhere else.

reven: well dicksmith wouldnt match  their own online price, but mightyape did, so I bought them from them instead.  once again, dicksmith you deserve to go out of business.

I've had them match their own online prices a few times but they always were reluctant to do it and stressed that they weren't supposed to. Struck me as odd since you could order for click and collect or delivery and it would ship from a store anyway, surely stock is stock.

This was pre their fire sale though.

I spoke to two different guys saying MightyApe will price match and they will be losing a sale, they wouldnt budge.  MightyApe got the sale (since I get free shipping with MA prime with them)

If anyone spots a Chromebook in the clearance section and doesn't mind buying it on my behalf I'd be eternally grateful as I want one for my daughter as her school is using them as their BYOD of choice.

Will happily pay courier fees and cover any other expenses if I can grab one for circa $200

Think I saw one at Queen street in Auckland. Was sitting in a bottom shelf

Remember how much? Probably too late now though as I was in Auckland last weekend and had a look in that store and didn't see it.

Stuck my nose into Manners Street today because I was walking past and need a couple of AV cables for a planned reconfiguration of my setup over Christmas.

They had a whole bunch of cables marked down to $2-$6 (HDMI, RCA, SCART, 3.5mm stereo to RCA etc). The markdowns seem totally random, many are sitting at full price while others are marked down to a small fraction of that - eg 1.5 meter HDMI (which I didn't need) for $2

Sadly not the ones I wanted which were proudly sitting there at full price ($24.95). Given that I want four, and Jaycar has the same thing in somewhat better quality for $6.95, I passed.

No micro hdmi cables which was annoying. Other than some overpriced branded one. PB isnt all that cheap for micro either so I resorted to trademe for some. For my SJ cam action cameras.

I am interested to see what DSE do for Boxing day...

Maybe just the usual, but if they are really tight for money this year, who knows?

I went back to Lower Hutt to grab some batteries tonight so had a quick look around the store. I just find it truly remarkable that they're trying to see USB cables for $20, it really is no surprise that they're having problems when you look at the prices of their own branded goods - they almost put Pudney & Lee's unbelievably inflated prices to shame.

They have so many made up brands too! Between those and the non stop emails, I am sure that designers must be a signifigant portion of their budget!
