Just watched the latest episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

It's a shame they didn't release the whole thing in one go, as I am really enjoying it, but would have preferred to binge it and don;t have the patience to wait until it's fully aired before watching.

Slow Horses was mentioned before, but on the topic of slow drip releases... The last episode will be out next week. When a lot of people will be away - not only here in NZ but I guess in the huge US market. How many people are going to watch that as soon as it drops, compared to if the release was one week before?

Some people seem to lack planning skills.

Or should be in the /r/FoundSatan sub-Reddit.

I got into Slow Horses on Wednesday, binged it and already up to date. It’s really good. The actor who plays River would make a good James Bond.

Fargo 2023 is an absolute cracker.

I wait all week for the next episode and it's always fantastic. I wish more TV was half as good.

Yep - it's really great and back to its old form after a disappointing S4.

I really liked season 4.
Season 2 is my fave . . .
Four episodes into season 5 and loving it.

There was a detailed trailer for season 4 at the end of Season 3, and yet I can't find anything to suggest its release is less than another whole year away.  From a TV point of view, season 3 has been the best so far, and as good as anything I can remember.  The casting is perfect, but we do need to watch some of it with tongues firmly in cheeks.  River has the shite kicked out of him, and keeps smiling with the odd 'Is that all you've got?' comment.  Automatic pistols never run out of bullets, until the director thinks it would suit the storyline.

A question:  Who plays the MI5 dog with the big ears?  Or what was the name of his character?  I have tried to find him cast lists, but failed, and I'd love to know what else he has been in, and if he had those enormous ears in the other parts he played?

Mr Bates V The Post Office - watched through vpn.

This is incredible. Superbly well acted and directed. What really hits home is that it is a true story and one that is still happening, The then UK Post Office boss, Paula Vennals, has just handed back her CBE as the result of the pressure this series has brought to bear.

Very powerful stuff and watch it however you can.

Recent context here from The Guardian

Just watched Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix.

Was a fantastic animated series set in old school Japan. Great story and very well paced episodes. The animation style and action sequences were awesome too. It managed to scratch my itch I've had since watching Arcane.

I read that a second season has been approved and I can't wait!

Would definitely recommend this for fans of mindless violence in animated form

Interestingly that's the exact reason we didn't like S3. I almost gave up half way through the series due to the ridiculousness of it all.

S1 and S2 were superb but I'll be watching S4 with trepidation.

Just finished the latest season of For All Mankind on Apple TV+

Apart from the terrible makeup to age a couple of characters (Ed Baldwin in particular), I am completely hooked.

Will be interesting to see if a new season comes about, as they'll have to delve into proper Sci Fi rather than "alternative history" with a Sci Fi twist.

Jack Ryan seasons 1 and 2

S1 was pretty good. Some intrigue and showed Jack Ryan as an analyst rather than action hero (although he does get involved in the action)
A bit of intrigue and decent bad guy.

S2 - What a pile of turds. They should have fired the writers and used ChatGPT to write a script and would have got a much better story. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

On the plus side, the production values are top notch movie level. Wasted season.

I'm still going to watch S3 - I hear it's better

This doco Bitconned on Netflix is excellent imo - especially the lawyer twist near the end (no real spoiler).

Not a TV series but it seems the ‘what movie’ thread was originally intended to be for theatre views.

Criminal Record on Apple TV is a police procedural being released weekly - three of eight episodes out so far. Shaping up really well in the best tradition of Brit cop shows.

IMDB says: Follows two brilliant detectives in a tug of war over a historic murder conviction, dealing with issues of race, institutional failure, and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain.
