The other thing I'm enjoying at the moment is High Country on ThreeNow. Victoria produces some really good dramas.
I have to say, I generally speaking, think very highly of Australian Drama full stop.
Being at my elderly parents' place for a week and a bit a few days back, I got to see a lot of Chicago P.D. on Sky (Universal Channel?)
It's pretty ordinary. It's acted adequately. The storylines are moderately unbelievable and the caharacters are also unbelievable.
It's a modern take on Hill St Blues, I think. But it's not even close to being in that sphere.
Did I like it? Maybe.
Did I hate it? No
Do I want to find out if he did the DNA test and she's really his daughter? Yes. Yes I do.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but Dark Matter is an absolute killer.
I've been recently really well surprised with some of the Apple productions. The general plot line is solid, the acting of Joel Edgerton and other stars is well done across the board. Very engrossing.
8/10 for me.

Kookoo: Bodkin on Netflix. Very solid.
Agreed we really enjoyed this series too.
Personally the end of the last episode was a bit of a cop out, but still.

Yes, another vote for Dark Matter. I'm not familiar with the book/s on which the show is based, but four episodes in now and it's been great viewing so far. Can highly recommend if you like your sci-fi.
Very late to the piece, but I have just started watching Andor on Disney+
So far I am really enjoying it. As I tried to explain to my wife, it's a drama set in the Star Wars universe - not necessarily a Star Wars series.
The world building and settings are unmistakeably Star Wars, but the drama could be set in any tyrannical empire

Another good Australian drama that my wife and I enjoyed recently was Total Control (3 seasons on ABC). Lead acting from Rachel Griffiths and Deborah Mailman was spot on supported by a who's who ensemble of Australian actors. Well written, well cast and well acted is good combination.
Bridgerton (S3 - part 1) - 9/10 (Netflix)
I'll happily admit to being a Bridgerton fan (in large part due to being a huge fan of Nicola Coughlan), and thoroughly enjoyed the first part of season 3. Part 2 lands next week and I'm dying to see what happens with Penelope and Colin. Call me a soppy romantic, I don't even care 😆
Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War - 8/10 (Netflix)
I'm struggling to think of anything more opposite than Bridgerton, but this might be pretty close. It's a 9-part documentary series which tracks the history of the nuclear bomb and the Cold War, and generally relates it to current affairs involving Russia and Ukraine. It's reasonably comprehensive (for a Netflix show) and explores some of the origins of the Cold War both from an American and a Russian perspective, the impacts of decisions made over the past 80 years on current events, and posits that we aren't really living in a post-Cold War environment, but rather an extension/evolution of the Cold War as Putin seeks to regain much of what was lost through the Gorbachev/Yeltsin era. I found it really interesting, and a good balance of detail and accessibility. I'm a student of history, but this is an area where my knowledge is sadly lacking, and it was interesting to piece many things together.
Just finished watching a new BBC documentary D-Day: The Unheard Tapes - three one-hour episodes. The BBC has taken many oral-history tape recordings of people involved in the Normandy landings recorded just after the war, and put them with actors lip-syncing the tapes in filmed interviews. These include mainly military but also some civilian people from UK, France, Germany and US. These interviews are then interspersed with stock footage and comments by historians.
D-Day has been done to death (please excuse the poor pun) in TV series, docos, movies etc - but this series is brilliantly done and is something special imo.
Just found this on IMDb.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

You'd better get a wriggle on, the latest television offering from the Star Wars universe, The Acolyte, has just kicked off. Been good so far.

I am half dreading Ep 3 of The Acolyte from what I heard - we will find on on Wednesday I suppose. May just be a case of haters got to hate (fingers crossed).
Regardless IMHO Andor is the only good starwars thing since early Manderlorian. You can do yourself a favour and skip the rest (Actolye Eps 1&2 excepted)

Another series I have really enjoyed and am currently watching season 3 of is War of the Worlds on Neon.
It's slow and a bit gritty, but I am wholly invested and really have enjoyed the first two seasons, so season three is just a bonus for me.

Having just completed season 3 of War of the Worlds on Neon, I have to give it a big thumbs up.
Well acted, well crafted and very different to the way in which previous tellings of this story have been done.
It feels like it's got a relatively low budget, but that adds to the drama, rather than taking it away.
9/10 from me for the full three seasons.
