Handle9: The Bear is back for season 3!

I’ve only watched episode 1 so far but it’s continued to be incredibly innovative and challenging TV. If it carries on this way it’ll be another amazing season.

IMO it’s the best tv show currently on.

That first episode from Season 3 is just so beautifully done. Truly an amazing episode.

Handsomedan:

Started watching Dark Matter on Apple TV+.

It's a dark scifi drama, which explores the possibility of a multiverse?

I'm only an episode in and part way through ep2, but it's good so far.

Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connolly are the two leads, with a strong supporting cast.

From IMDB:
A man is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could've lived, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from a most terrifying foe: himself.

Just finished this over the weekend and it was a fun watch although our household is split on the ending. But we all enjoyed it overall.

If you enjoy the multiverse and time travel genres, I'd also highly recommend "Dark" on Netflix. In my opinion, it's a much superior show to Dark Matter. There's 3 seasons and it's gripping all the way through.

I've just watched all available episodes of Supercell on Netflix.

It's a Scifi show based in South London, with a bunch of young people who start to exhibit signs of superpowers - all of which are a little different.

They are all children of parents who suffer from Sickle Cell Disease, which in turn gives them what is known as Supercell. As Sickle Cell Disease tends to mainly affect black people, the cast is largely made up of young black actors. There is a strong sense that the bad guys are mainly white, which is a prevailing sentiment in South London

Once you can work out what some of them are saying (they have a variety of different South London dialects) it's actually very good.

I'm hoping for more episodes.

It's been a while since I've added something here. We heard all the talk about True Detective S04 so decided to watch them from the start.

S01 - Even the second time around this series is just outstanding. 10/10 all week long.

S02 - It took us until the end of E02 to remember why we stopped watching this series the first time around.

S03 - At least we lasted until E03 on this one. Woeful.

S04 - We watched it all, but only because every review we read said it was fantastic. It wasn't.

How did it fall so far, so quickly, and how does S04 get the hype it has?

My Lady Jane on Prime has been a new and interesting diversion for us over the last week or two.

It's set in Tudor times and follows the alternative life of Lady Jane Grey. She was the cousin of one of Henry 8th's kids and was very briefly a Queen before being beheaded for treason, I believe.

In this retelling, that doesn't happen and she has an interesting life - there's also a mild fantasy element, where some of the citizens of England are also of another species which are able to turn into animals, which causes division in the population as well as in court.

There's comedy, drama, intrigue and some fruity language along with a smattering of lust. It's quite good, if somewhat silly at times.

Notably, it stars Rob Brydon as a courtier who is obsessed with his social standing and is thoroughly unlikeable.

The Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson – miniseries on TVNZ, available on demand

I found it interesting and fascinating how someone so colourful, jovial and charismatic, and also intelligent, can at the same time be such an arrogant, powermongering, sociopathic a***hole.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I've started watching For Those About To Die on Prime video.

It's set in ancient Rome (79AD) and the Colisseum is being built, the chariot races are in full swing in the Circus Maximus and political intrigue is rife.

It's a high-budget affair, with lavish costumes, huge sets and a large cast. Think a slightly less bloody version of GoT set in Rome. But with a little less of the political meanderings of GoT.

There are a few main characters - one of which is a bookie, who is quite powerful and then there's the Imperial family, the various factions and the slaves and associates of all of those.

It's high drama, with good (and occasionally gory/raunchy) production quality and there's plenty of action - the chariot racing is really well done.

The Sandbaggers.

Old series from the 80s. All the episodes now seem to be available on youtube (there never were many). Possibly a bit slow-paced for modern audiences, but I really enjoyed it. A throwback to the days when it was good writing and tight acting that made a good series, not a poor script that they have tried to prop up with lavish CGI and "even bigger 'splosions"  as seems to the the case with quite a bit of modern fare.

Good to know. I think seasons 1 - 3 were produced by one Japanese TV station then the following two seasons were produced by Netflix Japan.

Kaoru Kobayashi (Master) also starred in a good movie called "Quill - Life of a Guide Dog".

The Umbrella Academy season 4 (the final season)

Loved season 1. Season 2 was ok. Season 3 was interesting. Overall I love the characters and interactions between them as siblings.

Season 4 - holy shit - what a mess. So many things wrong with this. I rarely say this but it deserves the hate it's getting.

Currently watching S3 of Industry on Neon. It’s similar to Billions and is a bit over the top like that show - but set in London and much better IMO.

I have an interest in that ‘industry’ from a former life and I’m hooked and bingeing it - have nearly run out of available episodes then will need to wait for the weekly-released episodes.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Thanks for the heads-up, didn't realise S3 was out yet.  The first two seasons were excellent.
