Mr Inbetween
I'm not sure where it's on, but find it and watch it.
It's brilliant.
Yep, a great show indeed. It's on Disney + in NZ; I was encouraging subscribers to watch it before they cancel their sub, over on this thread (includes the YT trailer).

Where are all the laugh out loud sitcoms these days? Most stuff is amusing maybe, but not like the good old days, where stuff was laugh out loud funny, multiple times an episode.
Wife and I would put Somebody Somewhere in that category. Loved that show.

Totally agree, find myself watching clips on YT every other night. I should go and watch the series again.

Wife and I just finished A Thousand Blows
"The fortunes of Hezekiah and Alec, two best friends newly arrived from Jamaica. Fighting for survival in the violent melting pot of Victorian London's East End, they come up against Sugar Goodson, a dangerous, veteran boxer."
Really enjoyed it.

Another good series we watched American Primeval
"It follows the gritty and adventurous exploration of the birth of the American West, the violent collisions of cults, religion, and men and women fighting for control of the new world."

Just finished Zero Day on Netflix.
If you know nothing about what's happening in the USA and the motivations, it will all be a surprise. Otherwise you will notice some parallels.

Just finished Ted Lasso.
I know we were late to the party, but it took this long to convince my wife to watch a show about football (as we have a football-obsessed household as it is).
We have both been hooked since episode 1. 10/10
Also continuing to watch several reality TV shows:
MAFS AU - bonkers "reality" TV
Amazing Race AU - Celebrity Edition - as always, it's slickly produced and more in tune with a kiwi way of thinking, although some characters are a bit...um...interesting. And the benchmark for "celebrity" seems to be fairly low.
Finished watching the latest UK edition of The Traitors - that was hard going at the start, but as always, it really got me hooked and I thoroughly enjoyed it towards the end.
In terms of light entertainment, I'd be hard pressed to go past Junior Taskmaster, with NZ's own Rose Matafeo as the Taskmaster assisted by Mike Wozniak (who genuinely seems like a really nice dude).
Some of those kids are so funny...and weird.

I really enjoyed the first season but thought it went downhill, especially season 2, before perking up a bit for season 3. But different people feeling different about the same programme is what TV is all about.
Prime Target (TV Series 2025 A post-graduate mathematics student discovers an effort being made to destroy his work in finding a pattern in prime numbers
I really like this series.

Paradise - Disney+
I gave this a go a few weeks and really enjoyed the first episode - I mentioned it to my partner and she binged the five episodes in a couple of days, so I had to scurry and catchup. It was a really good thriller - I don't want to spoil anything, so won't say much except that it's about a Secret Service agent who discovers that the President has been murdered, and is then met with a series of mysterious events as he tries to uncover what happened. I know that's pretty vague, but it stars Sterling K Brown, James Marsden, and Julianne Nicholson and they all do a fantastic job with their characters.
I got to the end of episode 5 and it seemed like they were going to end the series there on a cliffhanger, but it turns out the episodes were being released weekly and I had just caught up, so I was pleased to see new episodes last night. Episode 7 left me shell-shocked. It's all too easy these days to being playing on your phone while watching TV (even though I know I shouldn't), but i was completely swept up in the story of episode 7. I'm saving what appears to be the final episode (#8) for when I can truly savour it, because I suspect season 2 will be at least a year away.
Adolescence. Netflix. 11/10.
How it's shot in one go, in real time, is beyond words.
I won't spoil it, but the episode we've just watched is possibly one of the best episodes, of any show, I've ever seen.

Came here to recommend Adolescence and found the above post. Totally agree - brilliant show - best I’ve seen for a long time. Four one-hour episodes, starring Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters. Watched the first two episodes back-to-back last night. Will watch the second two asap.
“When a 13-year-old is accused of the murder of a classmate, his family, therapist and the detective in charge are all left asking what really happened.”
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Drug Thief - Unsure about this as yet. It's dramatic for sure. Not sure about the longevity of the premise.
Have started watching The Leftovers on Neon.
I'm not sure how I haven't heard of this one before.
Basic premise is: 2% of the world's population vanishes in a moment.
The rest of the show is about those left behind (mostly centering on a smallish town in NY State).
The rise of cults, moderate lawlessness (there's still law and order, but it's different) and strange behaviour by domestic animals all adds to the drama.
Main characters range from the local Police Chief and his family, to a "priest", the Mayor, local people and school kids.
It's really interesting if a little slow.
I'm up to ep. 6 of Season 1 and it appears there's 3 seasons of 10 episodes, so plenty to go. Each episode is an hour (give or take), so lots of viewing ahead.
So far, so good.
