We were big fans of the 2015 BBC show Wolf Hall - a drama set in the reign of Henry VIII seen through the eyes of one of his chief advisers, Thomas Cromwell.

Just found there was a sequel released in late 2024 - Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light. Wonderful show with amazing costumes and settings, first-class actors and brilliantly written - like House of Cards set in the sixteenth century. Available on BBC.

Adolescence. Netflix. 11/10.

How it's shot in one go, in real time, is beyond words.

I won't spoil it, but the episode we've just watched is possibly one of the best episodes, of any show, I've ever seen.

Came here to recommend Adolescence and found the above post. Totally agree - brilliant show - best I’ve seen for a long time. Four one-hour episodes, starring Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters. Watched the first two episodes back-to-back last night. Will watch the second two asap.

When a 13-year-old is accused of the murder of a classmate, his family, therapist and the detective in charge are all left asking what really happened.”

How amazing was the flyover scene at the end of ep2 ...?

That flyover scene was unbelievable. The whole 1-shot filming is very impressive.

Yes the flyover scene was very good. Adolescence is defiantly 10/10.

Just finished the last episode of the latest season of Severance on Apple TV+.

This season has been slightly slower in parts and a slightly weirder, too...but it's still been one of those shows I have not been able to turn my eyes away from.

I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

I am also currently up to date with The Wheel of Time on Prime.
I'm not familiar with the source material, but I am a fan of this show.
I think it's well shot, well paced and has enough plots and subplots going on that there is never really a dull moment.

Another positive review for Adolescence, I loved the story AND the filming (I am fan of long shot filming).

The long shot / realtime aspect made me really think how modern films and TV skip over so much of the gritty real life details, and focus so much on the 'highlights'.

Adolescents can definitely be defiant.

I'm a bit late watching this series. I recorded it on SKY/HBO and only just watched it.

THE PENGUIN is a spin off from the movie THE BATMAN (2022), where this particular Penguin character first appeared. Hats off to Colin Farrell for an amazing job playing the title role, also, I must mention Cristin Milioti who plays gang boss Sofia. I know nothing of her previous acting roles, but she really nails it as the slightly disturbed vengeful family cast off.

The 8-Episode series doesn't have one good guy, or girl in it. Its a gritty and sometimes graphic portrayal of one of DC's scheming, murderous and totally evil bad guys. There is a sequel planned, but not until THE BATMAN II is released in 2026/27.

R16: Offensive language, Violence and Sexual themes.

10/10

Certainly one of the best (if not THE best) DC TV adaptations, IMO.

Watched the series last week, and really enjoyed it, but my other half didn't like it, saying the episodes dragged.  I liked the way it was filmed and the way the story carried, and there where enough LOL's to make it fun :-)  But be warned, the episodes are not short and the last one is 1.5 hours.

Mobland on prime video. Really enjoyed the first episode and Tom Hardy was born to play a crime family fixer, The rest of the cast is great but im not sure what accent Pierce Brosnan has but he is also very good.

Just finished 9 bodies in a Mexican Morgue

It was interesting. Felt like most of the episodes except the last, barely had a reason to exist.

It wasn't bad per se, just... Odd pacing perhaps.

Wife and I have just finished The Residence.

I agree with everything that has already been said - not short episodes, but enough laughs, drama and weirdness to keep us both engaged.
