I don’t understand why you are querying this.
Because of the ambiguity of who is collecting the video, the police or the child?
Aha - right - thanks. Very obvious now.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Raglan man drags partner outside naked, pours boiling water over her
This article was one of the NZ Herald’s best-read stories of 2024.
Not the best reason for republishing it on the landing page today in 2025 I would have thought.
The Herald is making an early bid for dumbest headline, or at least layout, of the year:

^^^ That’s appalling and offensive - shame on NZH. Does no-one there have any common sense oversight?
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Apart from the sheer stupidity of this particular instance, I fail to see the value of peppering articles with headline illustrations that have nothing to do with them. I suppose this is intended to whet reader interest in the other items but I find it confusing and irritating and I have a hard time understanding the logic behind it.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
Yet another very ambiguous headline in NZH story today:
“Family of Kiwi woman set on fire by ex-partner horrified by violence.”
A mess with multiple ambiguities.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
And another one in NZH - headline implies a fruit bat badly bit someone at a campground in Tasmania (even though the story is labelled ‘New Zealand’).
“Flying fox 'snaps' at popular campground, person seriously injured”.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I'm going to have to side with the paper in this case. When I read this headline I'm seeing a broken cable and an 8 year old with cuts and bruises crying on the ground covered in some dirt.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

While I agree a rabid fruit bat isn't the first thing that comes to mind, it's still a mess.

It was tongue-in-cheek - and I too feel sorry for the 8yo.

Seriously???? Why on earth is this a dedicated section on the masthead???? Clickbait rage!!!!

Sarcastically escaped ?
From NZH.
And the property was shot at !! 17 times!!!
RNZ headline: "This Taylor Swift is considering a name change"
The actual article: "Swift said he has no desire to change his name."

Misleading? Likely, but technically, a lack of desire to do something doesn't rule it out of consideration.
