jaymz: I too have to admit i love weather like what is predicted! guess it is the rush with getting prepared.

I am in Hamilton. This morning there was a nice red sky as the sun rose. It was sunny out (with high cloud) earlier but it appears to have darkened a bit in the last 30 mins. Still high cloud.

I will be pinning the tramp to the ground when i get home, dont want that flying away. other than that we are pretty set.

This shows the predicted/acutal path at the moment

Tramps are shockers in this weather! Have heard stories of them ending up in odd places!

Don't they just put on a raincoat and ply their business as usual, like parking wardens?

I try and stay away from them in general.

LMAO... in Far North Qld the main thing that happens in a cyclone is the bottleshops all sell out! :)
Last one I was in dropped 500mm of rain in 24hrs. We had a good party though! Only thing that was really annoying was the damned radio broadcasting its emergency warning cutting off good songs all the time.

And I love Metservice: "MetService will continue to refer to Tropical Cyclone Lusi as 'Cyclone Lusi' in its land-based warnings, even though it has begun a change in structure that will eventually lead to the system no longer being defined as a tropical cyclone"

I finished stacking firewood (so it won't get wet), put the recyclables in the bin with the lid latched, tied my young trees to poles. Did the washing yesterday. So tomorrow I plan to do little indoor chores but otherwise chill. I'm in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Wow, I just read that as "I tied my young to poles" and thought "isn't your house secure enough?"

Today in Auckland was actually a pretty nice day! No sun, with a bit of a breeze! Perfect day!

To heck with coffee. I asked Hubby to pick up some beer and asked him to make pizza. He makes terrific pizza. I would never tie my young to poles. Posts maybe.

Edit bear to beer, lol.
