You're old when you remember that once fast food bars had their price list painted on the menus board.

When you remember that movies once had intermissions.

That TV stations closed at midnite.

Pilots and cops look young.

Your GP and surgeon and specialist look like they should still be in school.

Started at 5pm and ended at 10:30. And what do you mean, "stationS"?

Right... I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work. And when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah." But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe you.

But seriously...

Not so much a "you know you're old when..." but rather a memory from childhood: When I was about 10, in the summer school holidays my mother would give my brother and I $10.00 each, and for that we'd get a bus from Glenfield on Auckland's North Shore to the city, get off at Victoria Park and walk back along the motorway and up Jacob's Ladder, through St Mary's Bay to Ponsonby and the Point Erin Pools. We'd pay to get in and spend most of the day there, which involved buying ice cream and fizzy drink, and in the afternoon we'd walk back to the city via Wellesley Street where we'd call into a Chinese dairy where we bought lollies and "throw downs" which looked like pieces of coloured popcorn but exploded when you threw them on the ground or at a brick wall, etc. Then we'd get the bus from Victoria Street back to Glenfield and when we got home mum expected change.

I remember turning off the transmitter at Sugarloaf after the "Goodnight Kiwi". Now I feel old!

... you no longer have control over what MS Windows does and you are surprised at how much control over iOS you have (but everything keeps freezing)

$10.00!!!.  I used to get threepence to spend at the Rainbow Milkbar in Matamata, only once a week, on the way home from Sunday School.  I found a florin stuck in the rubber mat at the front door one day. Having just had the fear of god rammed through my lugholes into my innocent, ineffective brain,  I felt morally compelled to hand it over to Arbuckle - or whatever the shopkeeper's name was - with only a slim hope that I might be given a gobstopper as a reward, but with strong faith he'd also do the right thing - and return the coin to it's rightful owner.

Think I'm ahead of my time. That's my bathroom cabinet lately, and I'm only 29.

I've already also broken a hip.

Yes - but before that there was just AKTV2 and nothing else. Then Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin each got a single, non-networked station. They originally ran from 7 pm to 10:30 pm each day and had on-camera/in-studio 'continuity announcers' between each programme.
