Dunnersfella: Well hopefully they've learned how to actually price up the products in the store and not allow their staff to purchase all the bargains before the sale starts!!!

Yeah, when I tried to get one of the kindles they were selling off, the staff said that all the ones out back were reserved with names on them, . But I guess the staff have to have some advantages working there.

well I was at the St Lukes store and asked them outright if they were closing down and they seemed puzzled and said no, but it wasn't overly convincing.

Not sure what they intend to fill the stores with once they are empty of all the stock they are "clearing" out.

What I found strange was the prices of some of the stuff they were selling off.

I think somebody posted a picture of a HTc One M9 for $88 (?), Ipads going for $100 or so.

I mean you could put them for $250-$300 and still people would buy them. I guess they just really wanted the stock gone. Really wanted it gone.

A couple of hundred obviously isnt going to make a difference, but hopefully you get the picture.

These holidays are one of the few times a year I come in contact with broadcast television and its ads. I noticed that there wasn't a single DSE holiday sale TV ad, unlike all its main competitors. It's like DSE has already given up.

I saw a few, although they may have been before xmas. They however bug you with multiple emails every day if you signup to their email promotions. Probably the most emails that any company sends out. Often duplictaes too at the beginning and end of the day. It is enough to put anyone off. I suspect many people unsubscribe for the reason of too many emails..

It was probably an ipad 1. I suspect they had perhaps 1 or 2 in NZ.

It was probably an ipad 1. I suspect they had perhaps 1 or 2 in NZ.

It becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Would you buy an expensive gadget or a new TV from DSE and take the risk they'll be closed in 6 months when something breaks, or get the same thing from Noel Leeming for about the same price?

They dont sell expensive gadgets for about the same price, they sell them for vastly more. And they only sell low spec TVs and audio stuff.

Its hard to buy when basically the only useful things they sell are 50% more than other places on pricespy. Or 10x overpriced as their normal cable prices are.
