Been watching the thread, last few comments formed from this discussion were amusing. Speaking of society's health in relation to consumerism & how it benefits humanity... Ah hem, Can anyone here justify to me how it is legal that energy drinks are sold to anyone but are not yet rated??

Also, just how long can humanity (in this country especially) keep up the vicious cycle of binge drinking weekly with the combination of energy drinks!? En serio

By the way NZ just topped one of the highest obesity rates in the world... Whoop whoop! Good stuff.

It is very simple there is no law to make energy drinks illegal.

I do despair when I see kids chuffing down 440ml cans of that stuff. And I have noticed a lot of overweight people drinking it. If people constantly need a dose of caffeine to get going, then there's something else going on with them.

The sugar content is cause for concern, but then again it's the same for most soft drinks and fruit juices.

Not sure why this topic is pertinent to this particular thread though.

Skolink: I guess it depends on if you consider 'assembly' to include setting up camp.

...and staying there for weeks or months, ruining that space for other people. They say they're the 99% and somehow they're speaking for ME? After seeing and talking to some of the dropkicks at the ChCh protest - I'd like to opt out of that 99% please.

I wonder what teachers think of that stuff. It would be interesting to study a cohort of students and controls as they begin regular or irregular use of the stuff. My guess is there are cognitive benefits which will lead to improved performance for some students, and the same properties may lead to behavioral problems for others.

As we all know, caffeine is physiologically addictive, and the tolerance phenomenon can lead to increased use over time. A lot of kids would not be equipped to recognise and deal with those problems - neither would many parents and educators for that matter.

There is also some potential for sleep problems and fatigue at inconvenient times.

It's quite shocking really & should be made illegal for kids & teens. I agree with what you say about people having to constantly drink that stuff to get energy etc but for the kids there is a special cool market that without mercy targets them. And the kids love it, especially if it makes them feel older & cool.

Absolutely shocking, some are pumping 50g+ sugar, & some soft drinks are 70g+!!! No wonder NZ has the third highest obesity rate in the world... Not to mention the highest diabetes rate, yep we top the world.

It doesn't really relate to this whole thread & I don't think it's a conspiracy as such but I find it strangely odd that we are adopting a lot of America's worldly ways.

The clocks ticking before things really start to plummet, I'm just counting down the hours & minutes.

those parents have been pushing for bail reform since their daughter was killed, long before kim dotcon
