Geektastic: No love for the X Files reboot?

Love? No. Mild curiosity about the current status of an old girlfriend? Maybe a bit. But now I know she's got fat, old and boring (just like me) I've lost interest. I had it set up on record/series link on Sky but deleted it - none of the original show cast seemed committed to it, so why should I be?

The family have been watching Blindspot, but I'm not getting into it - seemed like an interesting concept but after two episodes it already feels like just another cop show.

And after never having seen any of it before, I've just finished Season 1 of Homeland on Lightbox - loving that so far and hoping it maintains the quality through the next four seasons!

I deleted the recording as soon as they regressed back to their old relationship complete with dialogue lifted from the last century.

It seems like X-Files is all downhill from "Badlaa". That episode might also be the only thing that producers and writers haven't copied from the X-Files.

P.S. I meant to say that I really enjoyed The Last Kingdom set in England in the time of King Alfred. It is another viking story with some intrigue a bit like Game of Thrones at a more primitive level but following just the main character. The Bernard Cornwell novels it is based on are easy reads too.

It probably should have been left shut down in the age of the internet where most conspiracy theories have died off.

You must be using some sort of alternate-reality internet?

Far from doing away with conspiracy theories, all the net has done is provide the crazy people with an even bigger echo chamber to talk to each other and connect.

I just got round to watching the season opener.

How come that after the TV host guy and the woman with the alien DNA vanished, neither Mulder nor Scully appeared to make even the slightest effort to find out what happened or where they had gone - or, in fact, even to mention them ever again?!

And I am in the camp of 'terrible, uncommitted' etc. above. I wouldn't watch it but the spouse does. I also gave up on the old one a few seasons before it ended originally.

Have been watching Acquited on Lightbox. Was a bit clunky at the start compared to other scandinavian dramas I've seen (The Killing, The Bridge etc) but got very good about half way through the ten episodes.

Well, the originals (who can forget Eugene Toombs...) were a lot more logical than introducing two major characters, revolving the plot around them and then having them disappear never to be so much as remarked upon ever again...!

We heard that about Season 2 too, and we'd probably agree if we watched one episode a week. We binge-viewed Season 2 and found it to be excellent.

I binge watched The Expanse after hesitating for quite a while (it's a SyFy series after all) and loved it - it's great to have a decent space opera on TV again. I've read the first two books in the past 10 days and have another 3 to go (plus some short stories), it's a great universe that the writers have created. I'm really hoping SyFy can keep up the quality, the main problem is a 12 month wait until the second season!

I watched season 1 over 3 nights so if I do the same with season 2 I should enjoy it then.

Couldn't help wondering whether the introduction of Mulder and Scully's mini-mes last night (Miller and Einstein, who look like they're in next week's season finale as well) indicates we might be getting an "X-Files: The Next Generation" series.

Hear hear! Some complain that the show is a little slow but I think that's one of the things that makes it amazing.

Has anyone else got into Homeland? I'm halfway through season 3 and loving it. Claire Danes' character was a little neurotic and annoying to start with but as the character developed and Claire settled into the role it became a great show. I'm glad to see season 6 is in development.
