Avatar 3D. It's long (3hrs) and full of formulaic Hollywood stuff:
1. 22nd century techy space marine gear
2. obligatory hard-arse scarred commander with a death wish
3. The hero couple survive.
I actually loved it! The detail of the world he creates is beautiful. If you enjoy Aliens, sky's Mega Machines and impossibly athletic bodies you'll enjoy this.

Caught my favourite Christmas movie last night , Bad Santa, not to everyones taste but i would like to know what happened at the start , for the first 10 minutes it was bleeped so much it was like watching a silent movie at times , but then they went to a sudden break and after the adds no more bleeps , anyone else notice this.

Just watched Underworld for the first time... Actually not a bad movie - 6.5 out of 10.

Saw Avatar on IMAX 3D last night. Great technology, so-so story. Too clich? for me.

Very enjoyable, though, and I did not see the hours go by watching it, which is a good thing.

7/10

Avatar - what's better - Imax 3D or Digital 3D ? ( Assuming SkyCity cinemas in AKL).
I was advised for the Imax 3D to sit towards the back, otherwise the screen could be overwhelming.

Aim towards the back of the room, but try to get a central seat in the row, or you might get some issues when tilting your head.

SkyCity AKL's IMAX room wasn't bad, but they have a few busted speakers that made for some annoying hiss throughout the movie. If you can, avoid it.

is the Avatar movie at Imax excessively loud ? As in do you wince when there are loud action scenes ? Transformers II was like that, it really killed the movie experience. Audio was probably clipped to the extreme, making it sound loud and harsh, rather than just loud :-0(

It wasn't loud at all, just cracking.

Sounds like over-driven speakers have succumbed :-(

AVATAR is the best movie I have seen all year, if not ever. Amazing, I wish I saw it in 3D. In regards to 3D cinemas, where do you guys think is the best place because I'd gladly watch it another time.

I rate it 110/10. So amazing.

O for Awesome.

Went and saw Avatar in 3D last night. The 3D effects totally immerse you in the story and almost make you forget that you're looking at fiction.

Only problem I had was that they had issues with the right eye projector, and it would blank out for a couple of seconds at the time, and when it came back, the focus was borked. This felt really uncomfortable for my eyes

When saying that, you might want to mention which cinema that was at so folks can go to another one.  Was awesome when I saw it at WestCity (AKL) in 3D - apart from the stupid cow who wandered in 5 minutes after the start, sat down beside me and talked through the entire bloody movie.  I need to go see it again now.  Not that I'm complaining about that.

Inglorious Basterds - Really enjoyed it, and long as you don't mind a bit of blood and brains. Quite graphic, but a really good film
