kiwifidget:

I have a parcel coming from USA, via DHL.

The latest status is:

May 25: New York, NY, US - In transit to destination country.

Could this parcel still be in America waiting for a flight?

the following is my opinion, please don't take this as true, or not - waiting for a flight? or flown, landed, cleared and sitting on a pallet?

I reckon DHL is pretty good, and also Fedex, it's NZPost and their misleading marketing "messages" that I have a problem with.

Try putting your tracking number into this website, http://parcelsapp.com/en/  - if nothing else, you may receive confirmation that someone has got the parcel and it isn't lost.

@MNissen , thank you for that link. It gives me a newer update:

4 June : Departed. Your item departed a transfer airport in INTERNATIONAL, AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND on June 4, 2020 at 7:58 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND

I got a fright initially, as the first few words made me think it had left NZ and gone back to USA!!

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

Yes, another one is "Arrived GMTC" which means arrived at a Global Mail Transfer Country, i.e. India - London - Auckland where London is the GMTC.

So now you know it's here, I reckon DHL will have it to you shortly.

If is was NZPost, as I have experienced, it can take 2.5 weeks, to get from East Tamaki, across Auckland, to Birkenhead. Jeez I'd drive over and pick these things up, if they'd let me.

MNissen:

Well the NZPost's weasel words, in which the key terminology is -  "if it’s been more than 5 working days since our tracking tool shows NZ Post received your parcel"

has changed to ::

"To help us help you, please only contact us if our tracking tool shows it’s been more than 5 days (10 days in the Waikato and 2 weeks in Auckland) since NZ Post received your parcel"

I guess that someone pointed that the tracking tool may not be showing the user what other tracking tools are showing, you know,  leaving information off that casts NZPost in a negative light...

4 June - The weasel words have been altered again, on the Tracking tool, when I check on all the items, that have been "in Transit" etc etc (on a pallet in Auckland  I reckon).

"Delivery update; We are working to have 90% of new parcels in our network delivered within three days across the country. There are no specific areas where we have significant delays.  Thank you for your patience."

No more mention of the back log, I guess if they stop talking about it, we'll quietly go away - not me.

[Mod edit (MF): FUG breach)

I was getting annoyed with that too. DM them on Twitter yesterday morning and still not received any response from them on my parcel that has been "travelling" within Auckland for more than a month.

Yes, having dealt with Marketing 'persons' a lot over the years, I realise the their job is to put a good spin on things, but to so blatantly evade and mislead  - is lying.

They should be saying things like: "We have a large backlog that we are working through , whilst at the same time we are ensuring that new parcels are being delivered as quickly as we can, in order to not exacerbate the problem. - Please be patient in these trying times."

But no, that would be admitting the problem, saying, we laid off all those people now we can't cope...

And the feel good "we've got people working 24/7 we've got lots more vans and drivers" is too little, too late.

I used to run restaurants, and when the customers fell from say 100 a day to 50 a day, you didn't lay off half the staff and then struggle when you got busy later, you rode out the quiet times, accepted a reduced profit, or even some losses, so that, confident as you were, in your own business and business acumen, you could be ready, when it got busy again.

Ok thanks, I stand corrected, my error was to post as I post, on some forums, where a less polite discourse is normal

Now I know, I won't do it again.

Though I will ask, is FaceBook accorded the status of a person? or is the policy not to insult businesses? Either way I'll comply.

Cheers.M

It's right there in the FUG which it looks like you were just made to agree to again.

EDIT:

When talking about a company use their real name.

If you want respect, you have to give respect. This is the rule. We don't call companies names, then demand their services to be perfect.

Also, another rule is "don't be a dick".

Forum Moderator/s,  it is with the greatest humility that I humbly request you delete, hide, remove, incinerate, or otherwise, obliterate my account here.

To have to be worried that Facebook might be upset over my use of the term Farcebook, is not something I want hanging over me like the Sword of Damocles.

I would think that the few posts I've made, will not be missed.

Cheers

M.
